Rabbits are high maintenance and need lot of differnt things everyday do your research before you get one... They are much harder than any other animals if you look it up there in the top 10 hardest animals too keep

@@Pikyoh You don't need to worry! 😊 We did a lot of research and took care of her even until her final moments ❤ It was sad to see her go but I am glad that she was not alone when she passed ❤ I suppose maybe that just seemed easy because we were already pretty used to looking after quite a few pets so in retrospect it may have just been a matter of what we were used to handling In case you were curious- when she passed we spoke to a licensed vet and they told us that she had a stroke. We asked while we were there (and told them how we took care of her) and they ensured us that we did everything we needed to and that we could ❤

My Dutch Doe Daisy absolutely loves apples as well... she gets apple slices for dessert every day. But I have to cut them with a plastic knife. I found out that she does not like anything cut with a metal knife. She is much more dainty eating her apples than Pipkin who always looks like he is starving.

Wow! That's quite a discovery! We fear we would have just assumed the bun didn't like that food :D Have you tried this yourself, can you taste a difference!?

@@OneMorePlease Personally I can't taste the difference but it is something I knew about as my Dad had the same problem with his cancer and we found out that many cancer patients are sensitive to foods cut with a metal utensils so we had used all plastic utensils for my Dad. I had not understood why Daisy was not liking many foods she should have. I had been cutting off the browned part of the banana with a metal utensil and Daisy refused to eat it... she would sniff it and then turn away and ignore the banana. But when I just pulled the browned part at the top off with my hand she would eat it fine. That was when I realized that it was the metal she hated. I then began cutting things like strawberries and melon with a plastic knife and she would eat them when before she would ignore them. Apples though she still ate even when I cut them with a knife... I think that possibly the acidity of the apple masked the residue of the metal knife... but now I just cut everything with a plastic knife for her even apples.

@@DrDeliciou Wow, that is amazing taste sensitivity on Daisy's part. We're of course sorry that your Dad had to go through that. It's really nice you look out for Daisy the way you do - she is so lucky to have you! Thanks for dropping some knowledge on us - we really had no idea. You always used to mention how sensitive a bun's nose is to us and we are still working to fully appreciate it - now we will have to start working to appreciate how powerful their sense of taste is, as well! :D

@@OneMorePlease Well if you notice... rabbits will always sniff their food before they eat it... they sniff it to know what it is. Rabbits will trust their sense of smell over sight and even taste. I believe Daisy was smelling the residue of metal and that made her turn away and not eat the food. So it was still her sense of smell that was sensitive... not necessarily her sense of taste. Rabbits can't see very well close up and have a blind spot right in front of them. That is why they depend on their sense of smell and their whiskers. If you notice Pipkin will always sniff around to find his food even though to us it is obvious what it is and where it is... to Pipkin he only trusts his nose to find the food... he doesn't see the same way humans do.
