Great video. On the subject of why was it totaled: had a lady come into our Honda dealer with a new CRV. 1500 miles. She left the sunroof open during a rail storm. All kinds of warning lights on and electrical freakout. GEICO adjuster came to look at it. Totaled it on the spot based on his passed experience with dash electronics getting wet. We were a little shocked but there you go. Had a similar situation with the same model about a year later. 25,000 miles on the car, Customer didn’t want to go through insurance. We stripped the interior to dry it out. Replaced 2 control modules and the interior wiring harness and the car was fine. Now, at our shop rate the bill was $1000, but still. Far from totaled.

My 95 Mustang has a salvage title. I had just restored it for my wife and a woman rear ended me in it in 2010. Being it was a 95 of course the insurance company totaled it despite having less than 3000 miles on the new engine and transmission. bought it back for a grand and had the body shop fix her back up and it's still at my house today. Runs like a champ. Talking with the body shop guys they replaces the rear bumper mounts, a few braces and the bumper covers. Shot some Sonic Blue paint on the new pieces and boom she was fixed. I think there are a lot of good deals out there where insurance companies just rubber stamp claims when the vehicle could be fixed cheaper than totaling it but they dont want to invest the time.

Worked out well for me, bought it cheap as chips, put the manual transmission into a base model automatic sedan I got cheap with a blown trans, put the new shocks and springs he put in it, put the ss interior in mine too, parted out the rest and made enough to rebush the whole front and rear suspension and fit a new radiator. Kept the lights ,mirrors some trim and bumpers. Scrapped the rest and got me a set of tyres Now I'm into this VT executive sedan for about a grand all up and it's exactly how I would have ordered it from the factory 20 years ago..

My Crossfire was made into a "Salvage" title because the repair was more than a percentage of the value of the car. Got it fixed and drive it all the time. 12500 miles on it when I got it, and now at 16500. Drives and feels new. See my little vid playlist if you like. Edit: It's not for sale.

As someone who has dabbled in the salvage repair game.... water cars can be great flips IF DONE CORRECTLY. But the time, money, and migraine medicine involved to do it correctly will land you in an AA meeting before the end of the first week. And when he was talking about the sand coming out? 10000% true. Did a Jeep Grand Cherokee that got trapped on the beach, flooded when the tide came in. To this day, there is still sand coming out of the frame rails.

I once bought an otherwise perfect 74 impala for $400 that was driven to church on Sundays. The only problem was that the lady parked it under a car port where the rain poured right on the rear quarter making a 2 foot diameter rust hole from the vinyl top to the top of the fender. I used chicken wire, duct tape and bondo to perfectly fill the void inside and out. I matched the paint and glued the vinyl top back down and the car looked perfect. Low mileage 350CI V8 I put a nice stereo in it, wheels off of a 95 suburban and converted it to R34 and it was a sweet ride. I drove it for three years and ended up selling it for what I paid.

"Looking for a car for my *first* wife..." WTH and LOL AND shopping for her at a salvage auction! True love! "You should take her to this nice joint down the block, the Classy Chassy it's called. Try the roast beef"

Salvage Title doesn't always mean stay away. My mom found an 89 Ford AREOSTAR Mini van with less than 60.000 miles. It was a salvage title vehicle. New grill, Bumper and radiator that was all they replaced. Nothing was bent which made it interesting. Minor front end damage had the insurance company total it out. twenty one hundred dollars later it was moms. Drove nice never any issues
