Rabea Massaad, Ben Minal & Dave Hollingworth - 15 minute Jam behind the scenes at musicisum
Hey guys,
So this is some behind the scenes footage of me, Dave and Ben jamming. We've always jammed together and a lot of it was funky rock stuff. It's completely improvised so excuse the odd hiccups!
Enjoy

Rabea is one of the top guitarists in the world. In terms of making real music, with real virtuosity, he's on par with Nuno and George Lynch. I've waited years to see another genius like this. For example, working chords in to a solo--and pulling it off--he is truly bad ass.

I actually hear a lot of Nuno influence in his Bea’s playing, both tonally and rhythmically, along with the percussiveness. I think Bea is a Nuno fan, I know that he has some Nuno N4 guitars.

@DaveDexterMusic 5 жыл бұрын
I feel like we've not yet seen Bea reveal the true extent of his power, but for once that's not too exaggerated of a comment. Bea is fucking tasty and could certainly jam with Nuno without losing any face at all (Lynch would need reconstructive surgery)

Can tell Rab and Dave really focused on building groove through their strumming hands. A lot of guitar players today ride off their technical hand, but lose all the soul and groove that the strumming hand. I remember only liking heavy bands like Korn and Pantera, and Fieldy from Korn told me to build the strumming hand up, and that's where all the funk and groove come from. Recommended to learn whatever songs I was learning with just strumming and no 2nd hand to lead. Changed the game. i am sure these guys did similar practices in early or later years too.
@MrPeterPay

It's so refreshing to listen to musicians who use music to express their emotions, not just to play meaninglessly. Too many guitarists just play licks up and down the neck but never really have anything to convey. The playing often just sounds emotionless and similar. Then we have you guys who instantly connect with what you are playing. That's what separates good from great, and skilled from talented! Keep it up!

a bassist doesn't have to shine in a very intricate bass solo to be a good bassist. a bassist can be good in his feel for rhythm and which notes he plays in his basslines. I find it refreshing that this bassplayer is so good yet doesn't have to prove it in a badass solo.

Ok, but it is very nice to watch a bassist making some improvisation... not only doing the same notes/chords/"riffs" while guitar is making awesome solos! (sorry for bad english!)

Is it all improvised? Even when you switch back and forth between soft/heavy mode?:p how do you all time that so perfectly together?

"So this is some behind the scenes footage of me, Dave and Ben jamming. We've always jammed together and a lot of it was funky rock stuff. It's completely improvised so excuse the odd hiccups!"
