youre a class act Rabea - when I was learning I'd constantly come across young players who deserved far better sound but were sold whatever crap the big box importers were flogging that season in the affordable category. Thanks to resources like this kids have a 10x better chance of getting great sound earlier and sticking with a rewarding journey - its valuable stuff
@str8shooter1595 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. When I was growing up playing I started on an acoustic @ age 7. It was hard on me but I was determined to be able to play like Paul Kossoff and Leslie West. Then I got a gift from my grandad when I was 10 and he seen I was actually sticking with it and I was a pretty good player already. He let me play his 1955 LPjr. It was awesome. He also had a Marshall JCM 800 and of course that made me love playing even more. He got me a 80 something model JMP and a 76 Gibson LP custom. It was like Randy Rhodes so I got into playing his style but I moved more to the blues style of music. Of course being self taught with 1 lesson then I was 10 I was trying to play so many different styles that I never really got disciplined in any one style . It turned out fine I think because I learned to play by ear and I learned to play many different types of music.
@Atttuner5 жыл бұрын
Robby Johnson great story man I’m always impressed by self taught players I bet it gave you a great ear for all music. Although new learners may miss out on that extra strength and ear training I hope the newer cheaper gear causes more to stick with it. It’s a reward that can’t be bought and pays off for a lifetime

RedAppleRadio for real though, why the hell would I spend potentially thousands of pounds on tube amps that are really specific to one sort of sound when I could spend a couple of hundred pounds on something like this that can do everything. I know there's gonna be purists who insist the tone is "inferior" to tubes but if they were blindfolded they probably wouldn't know the difference. Love this amp, an absolute game changer
@TomPark19864 жыл бұрын

I bought the Artist MKII when it came out. Had a friend who is into handwired tube amps over to check it out. He was astonished. Is there a difference? Sure. But having it all in one box and using the GA FC controller, this thing replaces an amp and a pedal board quite easily. If you are recording and insist on ONE particular sound that you only get from your boutique tube amp and modified pedals, then maybe it's not for you. But you'd be the rare bird who couldn't find the tones in the Katana to do what you want - especially in a studio mix where a tech is sculpting the frequencies in a digital editor, anyway. I think that telling the tones of the Katana apart from the tube setup is something that tons of KZbin reviewers love to show in isolated A/B comparison reviews. Now do the same thing in a live mix with a band or on a recording where multiple instruments are stacked and sound-sculpted in the post mix and it becomes truly hard to find the difference.

Absolutely killed it in this video. I just bought the 100 MKII rather unexpectedly because I wanted something more practical than my 50's tube amp. The software has been solid and that is most often the thing that destroys a good product. I spent some time shooting out the Dan Electro Daddy O that is a clone of the Guv'nor pedal and my big muff. The clones in the amp are so similar that it would never make or break a recording or performance. They just sound ever so slightly different. Not an issue. I never thought I would ever buy an amp with chips in it ever again but this sounds dam good so why fight it?

I bought the Artist last year. Love the amp. My only problem with these Katana amps is the lack of a proper, complete floorboard with a large LED screen. The GA-FC offers very little control. A nice big 10 button footswitch with the ability to recall more than 8 patches would make this thing untouchable.

I agree. I would have spent 250 for a line 6 fbv shortboard type deal. I know there's a midi connect with the katana. I've never messed w midi before but it does appear to be more complicated than you'd think. I looked into maybe using that behringer two expression midi floor pedal option, but ultimately decided to go w a gafc and ev-30. Sadly, there's no toe pressure button with the ev-30. A rare drawback for katana

In terms of cost to versatility, there is no better amp on the market. Really glad you showed off the Tone Studio and GA-FC footswitch. Throw in a FV-500H which plugs into the GA-FC, and you now have an expression pedal that can assign to control ANY editable parameter. Did you know you can also route Audio over the USB connection? Send a DI or post-processing signal to your computer, or a backing track from the computer to the Katana and play over the top of it. You can even send a click/backing track from a computer over USB to the Katana, and have it play only through the headphone jack. I was even able to send a DI from the Katana -> Computer -> Fortin NTS plugin -> Katana -> FX Loop -> Katana Power Section -> Cab, although that wasn't an intended use and had some issues. For tweakers, tone hunters, and someone looking to try out some new sounds, Katana is King.

I've been thinking about doing this as I've never been sold on the sound I'm getting from my helix...and that's after purchasing patches and everything

Stephen Vaz I got rid of the helix, powercab and the katana 212. Bought 2 katana 100 mkii’s. Run them using the stereo link option on the mkii’s. Use onboard stereo modulations, delays and reverb. Run a few od’s in front. Sounds incredible and I have about €900 profit out of the whole deal to buy some pedals.

@@danabnormal5892 that's great to know! Thanks. Do you play live/with a band? If so, is it loud enough to for a clean guitar sound when a drummer is playing too?

Stephen Vaz absolutely loud enough for nice clean sound live. I’ve played with them on 50w mode with drummer and they were great. Give it a go.

First: I want you to do a “Sound Like” segment on this channel. Second: Use the Boss Katana for everything.

Takes Spinal tap to a whole new level.😂🤣😂

I’m not sure if you own any Spinal Tap CDs - but you’re spot on with that comment.

Great stuff, Rabea! A bang for the buck amp right here. This just shows that the price Fender wants for their Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb is way too high. You can get 3 Katana's for the price of one Fender Tonemaster.

Rabea, in the "Sound like..." you have also used the Marshall DSL40 a lot. Which one of the two would you recommend: Marshall DSL40 or the Katana?

Im looking for an answer for this question too

I'm glad I waited to buy a Katana. I knew Boss would come out with an updated model sooner or later. I'm ordering one tomorrow from Amazon. One day delivery and free shipping!!!! 👍🤘

Is there going to be a MkII of the Artist? Not mentioned in the various articles I've seen so far.

My Artist isn't even a year old and I was thinking the same thing.
