Rabha is one of the Culturally Most Richest and Complex Tribes in entire Northeast. It has many subtribes and a rich oral history of its historical lineage. Each sub tribes has its own customs and rituals. Plus the Rabhas have mostly maintained its customs and cultures unlike other tribes. Though there are conflicts and contestation regarding the use of language among the Rabhas, the language itself says alot about the past and the role of different sub tribes etc during the contact with different people. Rabhas are one of those highly sophisticated tribes, and mainly more so for the worshipping of different deities such as House gods, Tree gods, Banana gods, the practice of Black Magic etc. Till date Rabhas are one of those select few tribes in whom one can trace the nature of ancient practice of occultism. The fact that Rabhas worship RISHI and SANNASI also says a lot about having a connection to the ancient tradition of the yoga practice which is very rare among other northeast tribes. The Rabhas are old and ancient, more than one can imagine. But the History of Rabhas are all based on orality and sledom gets authentic view and tenability from Research point of view. However, Rabhas themselves do not form a clear demarcation of generalizations within the Rabhas. There are sub-tribes who have got diffrent status in the socio-economic structures.
