@@coyootje in spain, barcelona is always compared to real madrid so madrid getting success puts pressure on barca to make a big change, and vice versa. theres also a lot of politics involved but the main reason is that people start to murmur if there are no signs of change for the upcoming season
@ricaard69593 ай бұрын
@@coyootje That's modern football. There's just too much money in it and so much pressure that everyone is so risk averse. The loss against Osasuna is proof of why, because about 3 of the 4 goals were down to bad defending by the young defenders alongside Cubarsi and Kounde. Young players make mistakes even if they are extremely talented. Flick is actually an outlier because unlike other managers, he isn't shortsighted in only thinking about keeping his job but understands that part of being a manager and keeping your job, is simply solving problems in front of you. In actual fact that is all he's done, he's fixed a few small tactical problems of course, but the biggest thing he's changed is the culture, when Xavi said anyone who doesn't perform will be benched and that young players will get chances, but those were only words. Flick never even made promises like those, but he actually gives everyone a fair chance and actually has the respect of the players. He also doesn't blame refs, pitches or anything else for when things don't go to plan and never throws his players under the bus.

The truth is that it’s been a long as time since any coach was willing to bet on the academy kids and youngsters alone, through thick and thin, and see what happens. These kids have insanely good basic stats, as emphasized by Flick again. But since the golden generation, they never fully invested in those kids as Messi was always a guaranteed major trophy every season, and making big signings and flexing the financial muscles was better for them than improving the football aspect. People forget that we had kids like kubo, grimaldo, xavi simons, olmo who left because of a lack of concrete project with la masia. With a proper coach, discipline, hard work, the truth is that la masia kids will always give you something to work with. You add in a few transfers and you got yourself a beast of a team. Barca needs to stay revolving around their academy first, and important signings for crucial positions. We didn’t need griezzman, dembele, or coutinho with olmo, simons, and kubo! Not saying that we will win such or such trophies, but these young lads will only get better and hungrier.

The next couple of months will be hard because they're gonna have some tough games like Bayern or Real Madrid for example. But if they don't drop too many points in La Liga and they stay strong in UCL until the end of the year, after January the team could be a machine. It's enough time for Ansu Fati, De Jong, Gavi, Fermín López and Dani Olmo to get in the best shape, Araújo and Christensen will be back in training by December, players like Cubarsi, Domínguez, Martín, Fort and Casadó will have had more games and time to get used to high competition...and all that will make rotations a lot less dramatic.
@sumomaster55853 ай бұрын
Nah, wouldn't put too much pressure on this team...it's sad for Lewa but realistically this team is too light and crumbles mentally easily...just like arsenal from 2 years ago...an exciting team to watch, just very soft still...when they mature though, and if they are coached to their potential they will be a team to watch...not at 2011 level, but maybe their own brand
@anxofernandez33443 ай бұрын
@@sumomaster5585 nothing is gonna be like 2008-2013 (I include Tito Vilanova's year), probably ever. I don't even expect that. I'll happily settle for way less. This is a different style, way more direct, a lot less fancy. I like that because if we kept looking for the next Guardiola or the next Cruyff nobody will be able to live up to the expectations or withstand that much pressure. Flick's style is a paradigm shift and that may be precisely his saving grace. The expectations were low and even now everyone is still cautious. For now they're over delivering and it's to be expected that as injured players come back and get progressively fitter, the team should get even better, but many things could still happen in the next few months and Barça could still bottle everything.

Astute observation. Win or lose, it's great that FCB is witnessing the impact of Flick's coaching style even within such a short timeframe. A good manager and perhaps more importantly a manager who knows what they are doing will show the effects on the team, it's playing style, it's philosophy, and it's general approach. That's what happens with seasoned and experienced coaches no matter how it ends. Things aren't quite the same at the old Trafford though!
