Extracts from an 80 minute DVD I have made of a visit to the Isle of Harris in August 2014, containing video taken while camping at Horgabost Scenery includes the golden sandy beaches of the west coast from Scarista to Luskentyre - a trip along the spectacular Golden Road from Rodel with its wonderful medieval church to Miavaig in the north - Amhuinsuidhe Castle, Huisinish Beach and the odd bit of wild weather thrown in for good measure.

There are idiots who spend their time trolling KZbin and write these types of critiques for the fun of it, sick as that seems. They usually hide behind a profile with no photo. They do not have the grace to simply say thank you for taking the time to make and post your video. Best to ignore them, they love a debate.

+Michael Macluskie If you don't like it stop dreaming and make it a reality and move.I holiday in the Isles every year and have done so for the past 6 years.(I know the reality of a short month on the Isles has its differences from actually living there full time). If you lived near a city like us (Manchester) with its rain, horrendous pollution, overcrowding, violence & crime you would soon be wishing for fresh air and rainy windswept rugged wilderness. Also having religion in your life is a choice....it isn't compulsory.Enjoy the beauty of the nature/weather of the unspoilt place you live. We will be joining you in 2 years to live on Lewis.1 more year to retirement and we're out of here! ☺😊

@@starchildindigo530 Beautiful parts of the country, I too am planning a retirement hopefully in a few years, not necessarily to Harris but somewhere I can stand and not hear loud exhausts, or see litter all over the place, and not a McDonalds in sight (the fast food, not clan lol) - somewhere I can hear myself think and not have to fight my way through traffic, but walk to a local shop with having to cross major trunk roads and get almost killed by idiots running red lights, somewhere which can actually police itself and not rely on the overstretched police services of the cities which can't cope. Somewhere where civilisation exists and people actually speak to each other and take pride in their surroundings. God I feel old!.

If I could afford to, I sure would. My ancestry is GB, on both sides of the family. I know more about my clan Douglas lineage, so my dreams of Scotland are truly dreams of my homeland. I know the islands well as we went there on holiday almost every summer in the late 60's early 70's. It is a heavenly playground for children with the very long summer days and endless places to explore. We sent a lot of time on Scalpay were almost all the inhabitants were MacLeod's; talk about feeling at home! Yes surprised to see a trawler out on the Sabbath; that would not have happened back in the day! Thanks again.
