@ I watched it last week, I was a blubbering mess. I’ll watch The Christmas Raccoons soon. I smiled, cried and said “GO BERT GO!” at the end. I know my dad would have loved to know that I’m continuing our tradition, even if he’s not here to share it with me.

I actually met Kevin Gillis earlier this year and I have a Raccoons on Ice Sweater which I still have granted I still maintain my stance that the Lost Star is the best of the original specials but there's something so appealing about the Raccoons on Ice.

16:33 When I first saw this special as a teenager, I thought that aardvark sitting watching the monitors was Cyril but when Cyril showed up at 16:42, it took me by surprised and I went “if that’s Cyril, then who the hell was that at the monitors?” Maybe that’s why the aardvark henchmen didn’t last very long in the franchise because so many little kids where getting all confused as to which was was Cyril or Cedric and which ones were the henchmen.

I glad the Raccoons and their friends won and beat Cyril Sneer's evil plan for the lake, however Cyril really did get off easy, especially how he abused his own son. I wished the narrator mentioned that Cyril faced a bigger comeuppance, and Cedric didn't face the dungeon.

@ It would be a lot more satisfying and wholesome if Cyril did face some act of karma or punishment for also physically and verbally abusing his own son such as kicking his butt and disowning him by claiming him as his ex-son or at the end of the climax after Cyril lost, he realized he went overboard and he apologizes to his son and tries to reconcile. That would be a more comforting ending to the story after everything they went through, especially for a kids show.

Watched as a kid. But I always got a sense of sadness, melancholy vibe. Even in the music. I still get the same feelings watching as an adult. No other cartoon had the same vibe. Cedric always seamed to get it. Even after the Evergreen Race Cyril not change things to suit him? The ending was cut when the Narrator says that. That got me as a kid. A freinds dad reminds me of Cyril Sneer. Smoked and chewed cigars and was crazy when he'd turn up at camping trips with all the gear and fancy gadgets that were not needed. The sun for a torch runing the ambience 😆 Always had a hair brained scheme. God awful 😆

Hi @edgarbeat2851, thank you for your heartfelt note. We don’t get to pick our parents but I do hope your friend was able to find love with his. As we moved from the specials into the series, Cyril evolved in his relationship with his son, and Cedric, despite his father’s bluster and “tough guy” ways, knew in his heart that his Dad really loved him. Who knows why we (pink aardvarks included) turn out the way we do. Sometimes it takes a long time for love to find a way to express itself. And sometimes never. I think it found you early on. Maybe they could not promote him on the LP if he belonged to another record label? It's why they had to change John Schneider's songs altogether. Dusty Springfield had a similar problem as that's allegedly why Richard Carpenter got the main billing on a single they did.

Are we going to get the uncut, 4:3 versions of the remastered episodes? It's a bit disapointing all we're getting are cropped to 16:9 versions with several minutes missing. The old uploads on the Run With Us channel might not have been great quality, but at least they were in 4:3, and I'd rather watch them that way even if they aren't remastered. Of course I'd prefer the 4:3 versions of the 4k remasters over both of those, but they don't seem to be being made available, sadly, all the streaming services that have them only have the 16:9 ones. Not sure why the uncut and 4:3 versions can't be uploaded here, as it would be hugely preferable to what we are getting. Unless they're being held off as a selling point for a Blu-Ray release (which I'd definitely buy!).

@@watermelon-tw8cm I THINK they're complete if you watch them on Streaming. Just not on KZbin. Still... Then you got the other oddities, like some copies coming from the DVD sets, and the whole John Schneider thing that I can't get ANYONE in the know to talk about. Oh and episodes in both formats have no cold open/previews before the intro. THAT we might have to save. I got DVDs of the original versions of the specials and the series anyway. With original voices, the preview cold opens, and all. Also unedited Season 1 episodes (The Disney Channel edited them when they aired the series)
