I think the 200 Breast in Paris is going to have at least three swimmers under 2:06. Between Zac, Qin, and Marchand (assuming he swims it), there is so much potential and so much competition. Anyone else who even wants to make the podium is going to have to pull out all the stops.

I don't see Marchand getting under 2:05, he needs to get under 2:06 first. For ZSC also doesn't seem realistic. A sub 2:05 is a whole second faster than his pb and former WR, in which he went 31.6 on the last 50. For him to go a sec faster and come back in 31 is not happening. Qin is the only one who could go a 2:04. If he gets down to a 57.2 on his 100, he could easily go out in 1:00.2 and come back averaging 32.3 per split for a time of 2:04.8.

Cody do you think training in a 25/50yd pool creates a disadvantage when competing in metres? Clearly the USA swim team is the most successful of all time so it can’t be too much of a problem as the USA is the only nation that has pools in yards, but I assumed pro swimmers would only train in competition sized pools! Would be interesting to get your thoughts.
@robynaddie2071

@submarinesam Some pools in US are 50 M x 25 yd, so I often swim 50 meter configuration. I don't know of a 50 yd pool in US, but there are weird pool sizes everywhere, so IDK.

At the Olympics, I want to see Women's 1500, 800, 4x200, and 100 and 200 fly. Men's side... everything? IMs, sprint, middle, distance Frees, flys (no Milak?)... it'll be interesting to see relays--the US COULD lose the medley for the first (?) time ever (1980 aside). Also, the 4x100 record could/should be broken. Breast, Back... yeah. Hopefully the 200 breast!!

How did we get so good at swimming ❓ Is it strictly talent. Cause seems like none swimmers just can’t swim, no matter how hard they try.
@SubmarineSam
@SubmarineSam 3 ай бұрын
Practice! Talent is a bit of a myth - consistent hard work over a long period of time is all you need! A healthy obsession with your field of choice is useful, so the work feels like less of a chore. You should read a book called « Bounce » by Matthew Syed - it’s all about elite athletes (he was an elite table tennis player) and how mindset and consistent effort are the basic recipe to any success.
