its actually a seemingly smart choice, he is mainly a 50 freestyler. he is kind of gauging where he is at currently. also its to avoid doubles probably. it’s not bad to DFS just to test a swim out. it happens alot more than you think

Is it just sort of sucky to say that I'm heartened that an elite athlete also sometimes has a weird disconnect between arms and legs? I have to literally remind myself to kick sometimes -- well, except breaststroke. One can't help but wonder what the other swimmers in the 200 were thinking and doing in response to the 50 sprint. Stop that laughing.
