While this is a great disappointment for the Italian team, in a way it makes up for the bad luck and disappointment of the British team yesterday, when they were crushing LR until the wind died on the final leg - the final leg of 8! - and the race was abandoned. So in a way, 2-1 Britannia feels justified. In a way….

In other match race categories, in case you have a damage you can ask a delay of few minutes, usually because you exchange boats. In this case you don't exchange boats but they were waiting for the race to start and the wind was above the limit. So, partially the RC has responsibility if will go in the sea with no proper conditions. What if while waiting with wind above the limit a big wave rip some part of the boat? Moreover, sailing is a gentlemen sport. Although is a lot of money in between, I don't think any of the competitors would like to win because the other one couldn't race. Anyway is frustrating to see thine like this.

Again...this race was clearly decided based on whatever happened to Prada Pirelli but that was brushed over. Similar to missing out the pre-start manouvers in one of the races on previous day.

@@RP-zm9kh Lead commentator doesn't know the sport. The broadcasters have tons of stats available which they rarely show. There is no replay analysis on the official broadcast. They'll show footage from cameras that are panning across empty water. Etc. The biggest thing is PLEASE SHOW VMG basically 100% of the time. Boat speed is pointless when we can see they are sailing at different angles

Is this a sailing competition or primarily a cycling endurance test which is dull stuff? Difficult to tell. These boats seem on the limit with not enough wind or too much with interminable waits for the start if they start at all. Waiting for the start today was like waiting for nuclear fusion to arrive as always some time in the future. It would be nice if they could dial back the technocrats with boats that are not restricted to such narrow bands of conditions. Then when the Italian boat was having trouble setting new sails the commentators blather on with reruns with scant information on the live situation. Watching today and yesterday has been frustrating though the actual race which they managed was exciting and Italy impressed.

I keep getting these videos in my feed because I follow lots of sailing and racing stuff but i have to say this is the first Cup in my life i couldn't care less about. Tried watching this one and saw some guy tucked down in a cockpit below deck with computers blinking all around him. I say start doing the Cup as an e series on twitch or just stop doing it altogether it's a video game at this point. The internet isnt much farther from New Zealand than Spain after all.
