I’ve got both these pads and my experience has been that the Roam is a bit more pedal friendly. However, the Roam pads will set your knees on fire in Summer - I don’t think the TPU is breathable at all. Both have very good protection. Also recommend trying the fit before buying.

Which do prefer between the RF Roam and the Ion Kpact zip? From the video it seems the Kpact has better venting (visually) but you mentioned that the Roam is better in that regard.

The roam do offer better venting, I prefer them for 80% of my riding but I always wear the k-pact if I go to the DH park.

so there is no cushion between ur knee and d30? And if d30 stiffens , you get quite hard impact? I am using demon knee pads, u are exposed directly to d30 as well, and it hurts pretty bad when u have an impact. I had put some foam in between manually, and after that crashes are much less impactful. Is there such a knee pad that has cushion between the d30 and knee cap, it would be really great to have something that works out of the box.

Your knee cap doesn't come into contact with the D30 as the opening is lower down, the ION K-Pact has a cushion over it's SAS-TEC which is their version of D3O.

Thanks, I prefer the slimmer fit of the roam.

@@jedmtb Does sizing run the same for both pads. Had a set of Medium ambushes in the past.

@@mtbohana Yes the fit is about the same but the roam is a less bulky design than the ambush.
