The danish shouting "Come on Jakob". Biggest running star in the world. Always shows up, not afraid to fail. European record 1500 and WR 3000 and gold medal 5000, and Diamond League winner 1500 in 2024. Then runs a HM unprepared and beats national record in 10 K, hits the wall and finishes in 63 minutes. What a man! 🇧🇻💪🏆

While he did slow down considerably in the second half and stoped a few times he still finished the race in 63 minutes. Which is around 15 minute 5k pace or about 4:50 mile pace. Which when you consider he was training for the 1500m this is very impressive.

Nice footage. It’s a sprint, ridiculous speed. Fair play to him for starting and also for finishing rather than calling it.

JI has been the best thing to ever happen to running as a sport. No one else has ever challenged the barriers and accomplished so much from a very young age. JI also has shown that anyone can and will eventually lose races no matter how good they are….THAT IS THE SPORT. If you can’t accept it you probably won’t be very successful.

Track runners usually age into longer distances. I'd say Ingebrigtsen has a decade of middle-dstance racing left before he would be serious about the half or full marathon.

People online calling the back half of a 63 minute HM “jogging” making me laugh. Imagine if he ran the splits in reverse, or tapered, or trained specific to the HM.

Completing 21km in 1:03h is absolutely insane for me, I"ve got my first half marathon race next month and I'd be more than happy to finish it in under 2 hours 😅😅😅

@@aaronuzcategui4230I'm 72 years of age,and I'have finished 5 half marathon in my life with the best results in my first half with a time of 1,42,16.That was 39 years, and thr time was not that great, but it was not an easy task, and I was beaten by onr of the others, who was 10 years older than me,but he was a guy who had trained all his life, and I started running may be only three years earlier, and I only trained in the time of the year when it it was easy to run outdoor so may be I run from Mars to October, then stop training, and started up the next year again, and that explain why my best time t the half marathon was the first time I tried it.I think I had passed 30 years of age, when I started running and was 33 when I run my first half marathon,so when you are 33 and stop training,it will be worse each year to start up again, and you can't be good when you stop for months each year.I trained till I was well passed 40 years of age,now I have started to thing abouth running a little again.

If he had not been so ambitious and aimed for his threshold pace of 60 minutes that conceivably would not taken so much out of him as he seemed to be flat out to 10k….contrast that to his Olympic 5k where he just seemed to be cruising the whole way…his training regime is optimal for 1500 to 5k and hence the sweet spot of 3k and that stellar WR….

African Men still dominate road racing and XC. The track is the only place they are susceptible to defeat.

I didn't think u could get any kind of official record for a distance other than what the race is. Like obviously he physically and officially ran 10km in 27:27 but I just thought technically it wouldn't count as a record of any sort. Like can someone go out and go for any kind of national record or any kind of record in half marathon while running a full? Like is it ok if they just run the first half then walk the rest and still pull of a half marathon record?

The engine is there, but his track stride is too powerful for road running and it costs him too much over more than 10km.

Totally agree, it's like his stride is too rigid at lower speeds I think when he transition to the road properly he will trade some of his power output for flexibility to increase running economy
