at 5:36 you are totally wrong, check the speed of Norris, when he know he can't turn inside the track he speeds up and pass Max. For the first corner they considered that it's the start of the race and ofc they are going to fight harder which totally makes sense from a show pow otherwise this would turn up as the most boring race of the year. ad the end they were right on everybody beside Russel pass

It came to light afterwards that the team eventually told Colapinto that his fight wasn’t with Alonso, since the latter is in the run still for a championship spot and Williams isn’t, so they asked him to let him pass and continue at his own pace with the great race he was having. Otherwise the kid was determined to keep the duel going! 😊

One thing Colapinto mentioned in the post race interview was that he had to fight the team about the tires since they wanted him to start with the Medium ones but he demanded to start with the Hard ones so he didn’t need to stop. Outbrake yourself on the inside, obviously you will reach the apex earlier, claim whole corner is yours, run the other driver off the track. If everyone does this, overtakes will not exist in f1.

The simple version of the rule is that the car being overtaken must always be given space. The car overtaking is only entitled space if they are in front at the Apex of the corner. Dumb rule, but by that rule they got all of them correct today.

Lessons learned for Max: if you’re getting overtaken, make sure you divebomb on the inside, regardless of whether you make the turn, and force the other driver off the track.
