You fellas were feisty with Spartan in the video today! I agree with all of your points about their shortcomings. Us die hard racers will keep showing up because we want to see Spartan improve with our support. Great use of the comedic clips throughout. 😄

I tried to put some laughs at my expense in there so I seemed slightly less of a jerk. I was really fired up, too much eggnog this time of year! Thanks for watching, my friend!

Ouch! Some of us love TM and DEKA 🤣. TM is still running more events than Spartan does on this side of the pond - we have tie up weekends (TM on Saturday, Spartan on Sunday), but it feels healthy to have those separate brands targeting different audiences. As for DEKA it's a big growth opportunity, and lets Spartan ride on the rise of hybrid/functional fitness racing - that's hopefully good for the OCR side of the business too. Trifecta medals: less of an IT issue, more an "order screw up" issue. Not enough ordered initially, had to be airfreighted consuming budget, leaving less to purchase more medals with. Spartan has apparently ordered next years medals well in advance to prevent that happening. They also plan to tie up the system that tracks medal collection with the registration system - so people who are missing medals will be more likely able to pick up at future events. It's worked previously without that since they normally kept a percentage spare for people picking up missing medals, but given the order screwups it turned into a downward spiral.

Well put Gaz. The TM experience in the UK is remarkably different than the US. Maybe the consolidation will help them re-focus it over here. People are always the prob but according to Shawn IT didn’t help. Here’s to an awesome ‘25, see you soon bro.

I think Tough Mudder is better in the UK, at least from what I've seen and heard from Tom and online. I think it's more fun, better obstacles, bigger crowds. Over here, they watered it down. They also forced a woke thing on us (at least at the last event I was at) and I vowed to never do another one ever again. I don't need a political agenda, all I am looking for is mud, obstacles and fun. I hope they fix the Trifecta medal situation for the '25 season. It was a huge dissatisfier for many multi-fecta racers this season to go home w/o the medal they expected to receive on race day. I'm sure they'll sort that out.

@@OCRKingsi'd be interested to hear what'd they make you all do that bugged you? I stopped doing TM cause of the unavoidable shock "obstacles"

I was at the Central Florida Beast event and I disagree that it was easier than previous years. Yes there were shorter swamp walks, but the rest of the course had high grass and cow/horse divots everywhere making it impossible to run at any sizeable tempo. Ankles were rolled everywhere. My fears about the bringing back of competitive burpees on Spear Throw were confirmed, I was running in 6th overall, missed Spear, and the 30 burpees added 4-5 min to my time and I dropped to 20th. That is way too steep a penalty for a 10 second obstacle. 2nd overall also dropped to 15th They at least addressed this as an issue at the Unbreakable event, though I know you guys don't focus on that side. Until they fix that and the separation of "elite" and AG (just make one competitive wave like everyone else), I'm taking a step back from Spartan and focusing on Savage Race who I think is killing it right now and more responsive to feedback. Abominable Snow Race is Jan 25 in WI if folks don't want to wait 8 weeks!!!

I agree with you on all points. These farm courses have uneven ground that can be difficult to run consistently over. Good luck with Savage, it’s a great series. Shorter courses with tougher obstacles; I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews. All the best.

Well they’re bringing back the Ohio Ultra-feta weekend and I’ll def be there; in addition to the Cincy weekend. I’m really looking forward to that new Idaho venue though that might not be considered Midwest.
