Went all through the eighties and it was a wonderful era for the Porsche 952's and 962's. I'm 80 now and watching this is so overwhelming with memories that I must try to get to the Sarthe one last time. Beats F1 every time. I think Ferrari will do it again this year. What a beautiful design.

that is what BOP is for. BOP is how they favor teams and punish others. this is the way BOP works... the difference is between the fastest and slowest cars have to be 15% performance difference. you have one car at the top and one at the bottom and then BOP puts all the other cars on a performance curve within that range. they decide before the season even starts and before any testing is done where each car/team is going to be slotted on that performance curve. for example, if the fastest car and slowest car are naturally 15% apart then neither car gets BOP restrictions. but others who are not the fastest or slowest will get BOP restrictions to put them on the performance curve that was predetermined. this how cars like the mustang have more BOP restrictions than cars that are faster. what is crazy is... if the slowest car is less than 15% slower than the fastest... the slower car get BOP restriction to put it at 15% slower and the fastest car gets no restriction.

It was too risky and the cars are too complex nowadays for safety and performance reasons. Simply getting into the cockpits might not be possible without outside help in order to properly safeguard the pilots.
