Very rarely western people are open and interested in other countries culture and values.. We must NOT COMPETE with them but appreciate their values and where possible LEARN from them.. Because it only makes us more stronger and peace loving

A good point, China needs not to make an effort to make its culture more appealing; also Chinese need not to consume themselves to prove to others. Know who you are and be what you are

People everywhere need to improve. If Chinese people just stayed who they are 50 years ago they definitely would have much less to be proud of.

The gift China can give humanity is to being back true meritocracy, respect and pride in serving common people's interests in the society, sharing wealth so everyone can enjoy good education, good air, water, soil, food, health care. Just do these well, and how to live simply, looking after resources and environment, as there is no never ending supply of resources. Do not keep exploiting the world at the expense of others.

China needs to put in more effort to recorrect the masses misconception on its culture. As many of theirs have been imitated and rebranded by its neighbours. Hence, it is more urgent now for China to showcase its culture to the world.

China is doing that by having alternative media like cgtn Europe, cgtn America, cgtn Africa. It will counter the stronger western biased narratives. China needs to operate in Latin America and se Asia too

The main imitation is very strange. South Korea likes to change the lanterns in China into white ones, saying that it is Korean culture. In fact, the white lanterns used in China are very funny.

White lanterns are used in funerals to commemorate the dead, and red lanterns are festive.

I think of the one binding elements that enable Chinese culture to persevere is an innate belief in education. Generally, even when literacy rate was low in ancient time, the not so educated look up to the educated who were usually held in higher esteem. The educated where involved in state administration promoted civilized manner of living while those not in the officialdom also nurtured cultures in poetry, arts and works of literatures. Miss Wood indeed pointed out the uniqueness of the Chinese language and with it the long tradition and influence of Chinese philosophies which is also an inseparable part of its culture.

I'm so fascinated by China too. Sadly, India and China don't have good international relations 😭 I wish I could cross the borders easily, been to the border with Tibet so many times, it breaks my heart they don't want me going there.

How come all i have is bad memories from the wht folks?? I grew up in san francisco and racism was like the norm in the 1980s. according to my youth leader in cameron house in chinatown, the famous director reverend Norman Fong, racism was even more rampant back when he was growing up in the 50s and 60s. I always wanted to kick that "no dogs and chinese allowed in the park" sign like bruce lee. STOP WORSHIPPING THE WHT FOLKS!!! It is like we need validation from wht people like this british lady. We don't need interview of a wht folks on CGTN. We don't.

I love Chinese history. I watch historical dramas regularly. I'm also bombarded with Chinese "moral" little stories. The government, (after destroying the family, the communities, and the religions ) is desperate to instill moral values in its citizenry. This is China's biggest problem. The meaning of life cannot reside in your income. Connections matter.

You've obviously never been poor. Also, you have never depended on subsistence living. The poor in China has decreased dramatically. The negative old ways needed to be torn down in order to live in a new egalitarian society in China.
@madelainepetrin1430
@madelainepetrin1430 16 күн бұрын
@mahbrum are they really egalitarian? It seems like the old days, with the extremely rich overlords and the abysmally poor workers. But it will improve, I'm sure.
