I am in love with these two's music. I have a soft place in my heart for the older styles of music. I feel I was born back then and don't quite fit into the modern style of person. How many of you are with me on this?

Two maestro musicians having fun. Years of study together has resulted in this chemistry. I am only now learning music theory on guitar. I may not live long enough to reach the heady heights they have reached but everyone should try as it is one of life’s great gifts - to pull off a good tune and entertain either a crowd of just yourself. Thank you Rachael & Vilray.

Just a couple of modern cats making old-timey art that couldn't be any better. Equally good musicianship and imaginative writing. A beautiful musical pairing. LOVE LOVE LOVE

Oh, you guys! This is a THING! Ooo, so nice. And very cool. I've been a vintage player myself for years (licorice stick), and the most frequent comment I get his how happy this music makes people feel. You guys do it in an authentic way that's true to the period and yet fresh to our times. Your simple, stripped-down approach, superb musicianship, sound, use of vintage mics/guitars/amps, comfortable stage presence, and singing to each other on the same mic are just magic. Magic. The simplicity lets you take it to the intimate venues which are the perfect setting for this music. Rachael's vocal and scat sound really work for this genre while still appealing to modern listeners, and Vilray's guitar style, arrangements, and originals in the vibe of the period are masterful with a fresh (and often humorous) twist. Bring it, friends! Bring it! I'm subscribed.

She so much better than what her and Vilray collaborat not to say what they do isn't great it's just she reaches deeper when she signs rock or blues instead of this roaring 20's jazz
@dianemusic496 жыл бұрын
Guillermo Ruelas not agree with you ! She’s wonderful at 20’s jazz !! ❤️
@LasVillafrancas5 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree, Guillermo. In fact, I’m of the opinion that her stuff with Vilray is actually better than the Lake Street Dive stuff. Her vocal timbre is perfect for this music. When I filmed this concert, everyone present knew they were witnessing greatness. It was magical...
@Wiley_Coyote4 жыл бұрын
I think her best are the kind of standards she sings on Live From Here, which is still largely Jazz but a few years later than this stuff. Still, everything she does is magic, so it's like comparing moderately expensive caviar to super expensive caviar.
