There are plenty of people who have African ancestors and DNA and are just considered white, and plenty of people who have European ancestry who are just considered African-American. In truth it's a cultural category that takes into account skin colour, subculture, economic status and what your parents and grandparents are considered as - and differs depending on the person and region. One can only wonder what led Rachel to make her want to identify as a different race in the first place, but I think there's a good lesson in this - no matter who you are, changing your name or otherwise, you'll never be able to out-run your past. I remember reading an article a few years ago about a porn star who was working at a Christian school, and how she was found out. Both of those situations - you'd think a face would be recognizable, even if a name used wasn't. (Like, how could someone at the school Rachel got fired from not mentally go, "hey, isn't that Rachel Dolezal?") My guess on Rachel's story from about 10 years ago, and how things came to be, there must have been some childhood trauma that she's been coasting off of - and keeps willingly choosing to.

I took her art class in college in 2007/8. She wasn't claiming to be black then. She was kind of a jerk though. I wasn't impressed, but all this stuff since is immensely amusing.

Why do people hate Ian Miles Cheung? I don't really know much about him, other than that everybody seems to hate him, but I can't find out why.

He's a Malaysian dude who has never lived in the US (and it's unclear whether he's even visited) who almost EXCLUSIVELY talks about what's going on in the US and Canada and uses "they" and "we" statements as if he has a dog in the fight. He'll make claims like "this is what's happening in schools" But he would have ZERO clue as to what's happening in a North American school. He's not from here, he doesn't have kids, friends with kids, nothing. He also switches sides depending on what may be more profitable, he's an Elon taintlicker, and has been caught lying near constantly, often for the dumbest reasons (for example, after Elon claimed he couldn't play GTA because you have to hurt police, Ian claimed that he also couldn't. He's publicly written something like over 100 guides on GTA 4 or 5 (or both). He is the Twitter equivalent of the girls who model their entire personality after whichever guy they're dating at the time because they have none of their own.

The fact her wearing braids and curly mix chick hair with a slight tan isn't the point it's that she is claiming she is something that she is not. Like you wouldn't see a black person with blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin claiming that they are white and white people totally accepting it so come on.....
