Crème anglaise is one of those classic desserts everyone should know. It's easy to make and if you happen to curdle your custard, I've got a solution in the video for how to fix it.

UPDATE: due to recent health scares I recommend you cook your frozen berries first if they are store-bought. If you have picked and frozen them yourself (or know where they came from), then I wouldn't worry.

I am a grandmother of 68 years old and currently raising 3 grandchildren. I love all your videos and especially your vintage items for cooking. Some of mine are also vintage. My family loves the recipes I have tried already and I plan on trying more. I read some of the comments below and I must say maybe some people are jealous of your beautiful face, hair, eyes and especially lips and/or figure! I am straight I assure you but one must complement beauty when they see it. I believe the cheerful radiant face shots add to the pleasant calming preparation of your recipes. I do not have to keep my eyes peeled on the food all the time to understand the recipe. People can be so critical especially when they are jealous.....they maybe have not found out yet that they can flip to another video if they do not like yours! Why be so critical???? Thank you for posting your recipes, you are appreciated!

Hi, Rachel, I really like your demonstration together with your cooking techniques and tips you shared. Grateful if you could let your cameraman know that the cooking process that you are showing is also the star of the show. Hope all your efforts could be shown in the videos but not just your pretty face.

I made your Floating Island recipe from your Little Paris Kitchen cookbook with the black pepper creme anglaise and it was delicious!!! 😊 the black pepper gave it such a nice kick of heat!

finally I find your channel!!! I have been a big fan of your recipes since watching your tv shows a few years ago, but never could I find those recipes online(and the proportions are usually not mentioned in the tv show like this recipe, which I really want to try). Just a question: My mom is allergic to milk, can I use soymilk instead?

Loved it, but I have a question though...isn't the flour supposed to be cooked after you blend it? Or is the heat of the creme enough to cook it?

Loved the recipe and most importantly the part of "how to fix it". Just a comment about the "camera guy/girl". While I do like to see the face of the chef meanwhile they are cooking, I like it more to see what it is they are doing. I felt that he/she (camera person) was too much on Rache's face (and I get it, she is a beauty) and not enough on what was she doing. As someone who is a very-very-VERY-beginner on cooking, I do need to see the details of what is been done, and not "so much" the face of who's doing it.

Hi Rachel, thank you for sharing this amazing recipe but it would have been helpful to see the cooking process much in detail - the camera person missed focusing on quite a few cooking steps.

Just strain the Créme Anglaise to get rid of the scramble eggs. Also if you have a thermometer you can use it to make sure the temperature doesn't pass 82 Celsius to prevent lumps from occuring.

Creating Vanilla Sugar from a vanilla pod that has come into contact with raw egg yolks is a HORRIBLE idea - especially if you’re in an area (US) where Salmonella outbreaks are common. “Cross Contamination” is a thing ... other than that, nice video. Thank you for sharing!

Why do you use ordinary flour and not cornflour? then you could puree the fruit stir it in and add a sheet of gelatine

Why does your camera person always seem to be 2-3 seconds behind? He or she is always focusing on your face when it should be on the food and what you're doing. It seems like they forget what they're doing and then zooms over to where he or she should be. I don't understand... kind of ruins the cooking videos.

Hi Rachel, I come from China, I know you because the BBC TV series. Really really like it. If you can do same Chinese dishes, I think it'll be distinguish different flavour from french food.I think watch your program cooking is comfortable.and your sexy lips,when i see it i know that's rachel, haha^^
