This was great. I'll have to get the book. Sharing this one with the kids.

The question about spending more on food because of restaurants vs making food at home doesn't take into account the time required to make food at home, women entering the workforce and not relegated to solely kitchen work, the change in capability to make wages to pay for said food, etc. they all hinge on each other. I'm only in my thirties but my grandmother who lived in the country in the US always said they never had money because they never spent money. The only things they bought were flour and sugar from the food truck that would come by for deliveries. They spent 100% of their money on food essentially but the meaning of a percent spent on food changes in context. I'm the grand scheme of things, we as a society benefit from the advancement of society in ways that move the foundations of the question behind how much is spent on food. Very informative video. I have and love the book. There's so much content I haven't finished it after a long time and it's hard to integrate it all. I read it for fun but I'd love to study it more seriously.
