I love this song so much. It was my favorite off this album for years. I sang it choir. It just hits me the gut. My bf and father of my child listened to this for the entire 15 years we were together. I kept it when things ended. Couldnt listen too it for along time. It like our soundtrack. Now, we've moved on with our lives. I have 15 years of memories with a stranger. And that's hard sometimes. But we have an amazing daughter who has already been listening to this. And we had a great 15 years together, we grew up together. We were all we had. Grateful for memories even if they are bittersweet. Love this entire album and will never get tired of it. It's a masterpiece. 🎼💞🔥👍🏻

This album was the soundtrack of my life for about three years. I struggle to listen to any of the songs anymore without a flood of images coursing through my veins like a bad narcotic. I close my eyes and I am there. All those memories of missed opportunities, blown chances, and the girls I loved but let go because I was young, stupid, and always thought there would be more time. Regrets. I can feel the streets of my hometown under my feet as the beats go by, and the nostalgia of a city I thought I would never leave pulling me back. But I can never go back because it would all have changed, and nothing ever stays the same. This song in particular reminds me of a night where the girl I was with and myself, had to leave the apartment she lived in, and the party she was having, because someone called the cops. The road was Commercial street, and we ended up by the docks, holding hands beside some granite statue watching the early dawn come up on on the Tay river, and we sang this song together. I was convinced the song was some sort of political viewpoint of the Vietnam war. Orla, told me I was an idiot and then laughed so hard she almost fell into the sea. Like I said, I was young, and naive, and a total moron. And I did not do right by her in the end, to my eternal shame. Of course, I doubt now I am even a footnote in her personal history. Still at the time.... Of course if we hadn't split up, I'd never have met the amazing woman who is now my wife, so you know swings and roundabouts. Really I wouldn't change a thing considering where I am now. Ok, cool, peace out.

+Moseeki , for sure. The best thing about a great album for me is when it gets put away deep in your CD case or put at the bottom of the CD holder. Years go by, and when you finally decide to dust, you come across gems like this. The feelings and emotions all come back to when I first heard this album and this song particularly.

I think we all feel this way. Back then I thought I was doing the right thing - and in a way I was, and in a way, I wasn't. The difference is now, as an adult, the same mistakes still happen but the innocence and carefree feelings of youth are absent from the equation making it all harder to deal with. But, you really do live and learn. Stumble, get back up and stumble again. That's life.

I ve the tape of this album which my late sibling Kashfy borrowed from one of her friends, but after she passed away the tape was never returned. On that fateful night, December 2001,my sis took her own life regarding the fact that her ex ditched her for some other chick, sis learnt about this bitter truth from one of her friends. She felt acutely depressed,in the shadow of loneliness, lost zest to live her life to the fullest, didn't know with who to pour her heart out to. She was in her own bedroom where i saw her already done damage to herself, while this album of Counting Crows was on play on the stereo. My mum to this day takes this album from a negative angle, thinks it had some Satanic influence on my sister, when thats not the case.We have cut all communications with her ex,not only he cheated on my sis but incurred irrecoverable damage to us.Saving her was too late 😔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
