I’m right there with you with Icebreaker! I got I think 45% through? And I was like, “why is this book still going?” The relationship felt established way too fast and even the plot I didn’t understand where else it really could go. Ice Princess was definitely one of my favourite movies growing up! You definitely made me think about that movie when you were reading Ice Breaker ☺️ although Ice Princess is more about a girl finding herself and her “real” passion with some romance thrown on the side. I LOVE white noise and I realized that in the accessibility setting on iPhones you can add white noise, brown noise, rain etc to your main settings thing when you swipe down. That way you don‘t need to play a video for it! It‘s just built into the phones and you can download any of the sounds on there that you want to. It‘s also way quicker than looking for a video because you can just swipe to where you flashlight, camera, and screen recorder are to use it.

i would 100% recommend starting with the Infernal Devices trilogy, then the Last Hours trilogy 🥰
@clary1120 Жыл бұрын
I would go for The Infernal Devices first (set in Victorian London), then go for The Last Hours (set in Edwardian London, stars the children of the characters of The Infernal Devices) and then go for The Mortal Instruments (set in New York) and then The Dark Artifices (set in Los Angeles and then the characters from The Mortal Instruments are a bit older here). There are like short story compilations that tackles characters in between these main trilogies. Quite long description, but as a person who read all the books in the Shadowhunters universe, this is the order I would recommend if you want to really dive into the world of Shadowhunters. 😊 Hope this helps.

As a christian, do you ever feel discerned not to read a specific book or type of book? I know books are made up stories but sometimes I feel like I shouldn’t start reading fantasy or just even certain books. Even though fantasy seems sooo interesting cause I did read Folk of the Air series and loved it
@KarlyJo Жыл бұрын
so i know you didn’t ask me, but here’s my thoughts as a fellow christian, as i’ve had the same conviction as you recently. if you feel discernment over something i would pray about it and let him guide you to that answer. usually if you feel like you shouldn’t read something, then i would stick to that conviction! personally i read all genres but choose to stay clear of books that have witchcraft, false gods, or crazy smut just because i don’t like filling my mind with that, but in reality sex before marriage, gossip, lust and indulgence are all sins too and most all books have sin in them, not just fantasy. but i personally don’t feel convinced to not read fiction books as long as i make sure i keep room for reading the bible and staying rooted and not to meditate or aspire for the things i read in books. not sure if that makes any sense but definitely pray about it and submit to your convictions, as we all have different ones 🤍
@AngelikaCooper Жыл бұрын
@@KarlyJo thank you so much that makes alot of sense!! Yes I try to read my Bible 30 minutes to an hour every day. I tried reading a certain series recently and just felt like God was telling me not to read it so I stopped reading the second book. It has to do with Magic and stuff. And yes, I don’t like reading a lot of smut either, I try to stay away from books that I here have a lot in it because I don’t want my mind filled with that. As I’m 24 years old still waiting for marriage, the even reading it fills my mind with temptation.

@@KarlyJo do you have any fantasy recommendations that you found really enjoyable but no/little discernment over?
@KarlyJo Жыл бұрын
@@AngelikaCooper i’ve only read The Cruel Price trilogy for fantasy and feel like that would be a safe pick since it’s YA, but maybe also the once upon a broken heart duology or the heart of a raven prince series since those are more like fairytales, but i haven’t read them yet myself
