Hyeeelllooo!! As you might have noticed, I am on a massive Declutter Spree (band name, called it) lately and I felt like it was time for another closet PURGEEEE. The last time I did one of these was over a YEAR ago, can you believe that? These clothes were due for a chuckin', I'd say. I was much more strict on myself this time around, and ended up getting rid of a LOT of vintage. Well, you'll see, hehe.
ENJOY!

They are so lucky to have each other!! He supports her in all her endeavors, and is there to bounce ideas off of, and you can tell she really loves him for it. She is creative and exciting which keeps him on his toes as to never be bored. I will still be watching her channel when they are old farts. Side note: I really wish she didn’t take the negative comments to heart. Seeing Sad Rachel makes me sad, and she doesn’t need to change a damn thing. It’s her channel! No matter what one does in their life, there will always be people for it and people against it, so be you and let those that like you like you for who you are, and those who don’t can suck an egg.

Rachel, you need some thin roller blinds or fabric roller blinds for your windows. Not only will it prevent the outside world from seeing your scantily antics but it will also provide even lighting. They are also cheap and easy to install and you can get them cut to fit your windows. The brackets are small and you can remove the blinds pretty easily if you don't want them to stay in your windows all the time.

My late mother-in-law had the best closet organize hack ever. Every New Yesrs Day, she’d go thru her closet and turn all of her hangers backward. (Where the opening of the hook was facing out.) Then throughout the year, as she’d wear and wash her clothes, she hang them normally. (Where the opening of the was facing the wall.). Then the following New Years Day, she’d take all of the clothes that the hangers were still facing out and donate them. Then she’d start all the way over.

For the clothes that I only wear occasionally (but still really love and cannot part with) like fancy dresses, vacation/beach clothes, etc, I keep them in vacuum-sealed bags and put them in a faux-antique chest ('cause real antique chests cost too dang much, lol) that doubles as a end-of-the-bed-table (there's a word for this, I'm sure) in my bedroom. That way I don't have to buy a new dress every time there's some type of Fancy Function™ or a vacation (what are those again?), but I also don't have all my fancy-clothes taking up space in my closet all the dang time.

I really like that she casually mentioned that she is wearing shape wear - because of course it is completely ok to do so. What is awful are the influences who are using everything from shape wear to Photoshop to look better and not be transparent about it, which can really mess with the self esteem of people!

I dread closet purges! My rule of thumb is: "If it doesn't fit me anymore, get rid of it. If I haven't thought of wearing it in like, twenty years, get rid of it." I just don't open my closet anymore, because all of my clothes have shrunk. Jeans and a t-shirt are what I wear now. Mind you, if I had a figure like Rachel's... ~Janet in Canada

To save your sanity (and your coffers, milady!) DO NOT WATCH 'All Creatures Great and Small". If you have not seen it already, it was a show produced in Britain in the 1970s based on a series of books about being a veterinarian in the 1940s English Countryside....It's a wonderful show with a sprightly opening song.....but the costuming is so gorgeous that your bank account will scream in terror because of your shopping.

I grew up in a hoarding house, so I learned real quick that if I want something new I have to get rid of something old. So I always take at least one bag to donation every time I plan to go shopping so that there is room in my closet and I don’t feel like a hoarder. You did great though! It takes some time to get used to getting rid of things you never wear.

I definitely want to purge my closet as well. But I also believe a true Mario Kondo style purge involves pulling all the garments out of the closet into a pile, and then decide if they fit/spark joy/look flattering. But it is very tedious and that initial pile does make you feel like a dragon hoarding precious rags. I loved all of this video - love Frodo and all the tangents and funny hilarity.

"Do you buy clothes for all the things you see yourself doing?" I can't even begin to tell you how many formal dresses I buy because I might need one some day. I mean, what would I wear if I was invited to the White House? Or the Oscar's? Lol (because they totally just randomly call people and invite them for no reason- "hello, we heard you have been a mom for 20 years now with no social life, here's a ticket to the Oscar's and an all expenses paid trip to go with it" 🤣 P.S. I live in a place where a "formal wedding" means you wear your best Sunday going to church clothes.

Glamorous fancy dresses just in case I suddenly get the actual gumption to become an active and avid supporter of the opera and musicals. I went to the Straz for Beauty and the Beast once. Once. Legit appreciate you making videos even though you don't feel 100% on top of the world. Right there with you. Im working on cleaning out my house so I can have a fresh place to start my slow rise out of depression from. Your videos have been great for giving me some motivation in my stagnant life, I'm always up and down, and dressing in something other than yoga pants definitely helps. Def spent way too much money at thredup tho. I've been working on sustainability and switching to natural, long lasting materials, especially used items. Wool, leather, 100% cotton, linen, silk. So this is great. I don't sew yet (and I'm recovering from a major surgery on my wrist so it's gonna be a few months) but I work at a plant nursery and I'm gonna make me some aprons! I've made a bunch of sketches of aprons that I'm going to make from leather, linen, and cotton dresses, leather belts, and see how they turn out when I can eventually sew. I'll have my mom teach me so I don't break her machine! #adequateinspiration #impostersyndrome #ordinarilyrelatable #weloveyounomatterwhat

I still feel the same. I probably would have less angst about getting rid of ready made clothes, but doubt I would ever give up my handmade ones . That said, since my post, I *have faced & overcome some procrastinations, listed below... I wrastled & conquered the paperwork for my taxes, rescued & transplanted 150 (or so) little flowering volunteers (from the lawnmower monster), terraformed a path to better suit my aesthetic, chopped & ate many vegetables & am 3/4 of the way through an applique project. ...(sewing more after posting) I also took Karolina's and Nicole's advices from earlier today and took time to relax, slow down and enjoy what I can. Including pausing Nicole's video to attend to my own priorities, as she suggested....(going back now, probably, hopefully to finish my appliqué).
