I think it's great that you use the show FRIENDS as your source material for your lessons. Apart from it being very popular, it has a lot of realistic dialogue and I noticed that the actors had stronger american accents than today's generation. It's a product of it's time. Also, it's a great vehicle to teach people of other cultures about american humor.

I've been studied an awful lot English on my own by reading books, watching so many videos on YT from different coach/teachers and so on but sometimes I feel a little bit frustrated, specially when I heard an utterence like that: "I wouldn't have even..." spoken by natives English in a daily normal speaking. Even though I've heard this sentence a million times I couldn't have even understood it. This sentence, mostly, are being hard to me. But one thing I'm totally sure, I won't give up. Thanks so much Rachel! You know, in China, the English we learn is too formal! I've never been taught like this in detail of American pronunciation! I'm go a short-term study in SGP where English is everywhere. This is the first time I've been to a country whose first language is English. The way local people say is never same as what I was taught in China. I felt so much frustated and couldn't sleep well last night. Cauz I really love English and I look forward to master real English-not that kind of in China. I figure out the right way to open English is to use it every day.
