I had to come back with an update 2 weeks later to say … your advise have increased my sales beyond my expectations!!! 🎉. I mean with sometimes 10 mins of tweaking the titles of items that have been sat for months even years they have sold !!! The key part of your concepts for me are 1)first five keywords 2) taking out all the necessary words and characters 3) using abbreviations to give yourself more characters to work with. 4) keep reveiwing all the listings to make sure to wording and spelling is correct. Massive thanks ! Millions a people shopping so why not share the knowledge…..And hope this helps anyone who is wondering if this video is worth taking note of . At the end of the day it certainly has not hurt and has worked for me . Have a fab day !!

She's completely right. Whenever I put video games or cards on ebay, they generally get sold within a day or two because I find the most recently sold item that fits the description by a top-rated seller and basically copy everything besides putting my own photos and maybe adding to the item description my own info about the item after quickly scanning what the AI wrote just to be sure. The engine doesn't care about anything else besides the your keywords in the title and outside your title, when dealing with item specifics, make sure you add as many search item specifics as possible, especially ones that ebay recommends. (They usually recommend specifics with 100,000+ searches that you are missing)
@RachelStrickland Жыл бұрын
I appreciate you! Thanks for your input

So, to clarify your recommendation, are you advising sellers to use the Ebay AI to write descriptions instead of composing the descriptions ourselves? I haven't used the AI function so far. Thank you for your input. I need all the help I can get!🥰
@RachelStrickland Жыл бұрын
If you use AI. Just be sure to proofread it. It can and often does contain errors. Also, be sure it doesn't sound computer generated or yoo generic. I'd recommend at least trying it to see what you think.

Great video. As an ebay seller for 6 years, I agree with almost everything you mentioned. I do like punctuation though. lol. This is just a general comment and not directed at you. It's my thoughts on the word "Rare". The one word that I think is death for a listing is the word "Rare". When you describe something as "rare", you're doing one of two things (and usually you're doing both at the same time). The first thing you are doing is positioning yourself as a salesperson who is "selling" a thing" That may seem like kind of a "Duh" comment to make but think about what you're really doing on ebay. You're "offering" a thing and the other person is "finding" it. As a seller, you just happen to be the person who has the thing. As a buyer, they got lucky and FOUND that thing. All of that happens in kind of a "treasure hunt" mentality. It's fun and mysterious and lucky and interesting. But when you add the word "Rare" to the listing, you remove all of that mystery and fun. The reason is that all of the other words you might add to the description of your item are objective: "Vintage red dress" or "post modern black vase" or "retro hardcover book", etc...all of those terms are objective descriptions that simply describe the item. "Vintage red dress" is LITERALLY a "vintage. Red. dress" and saying that takes nothing away from the treasure hunt. In fact, it enhances the treasure hunt and it does this without ever "selling" anything. Adding the word "Rare" to a listing adds subjectivity to the listing in a way that is specifically designed to attempt to sell the thing...and once you start "selling" a thing, you turn people off. Nobody wants to be "sold". EVERYONE wants to go on the treasure hunt. The second thing you're doing is you're alerting the potential buyer to the fact YOU value the thing and if YOU value the thing, maybe you've priced it accordingly and as a buyer, maybe I should go shop around a bit to make sure I'm not paying to much. The danger of selling a thing instead of simply offering it is that you place your own subjective value on that thing instead of simply "throwing it out there" for someone to come and pick up. That is a massive mindset difference for people. It's the reason there's no more "sales people". They've all been replaced with consultants and customer service reps and experience brand ambassadors, etc. Stop selling and start offering. "Rare" is a horrible word for your ads and not only that but 9 times out of 10...it's not even rare. Stop it!

Good info, Rachel. Yes, keyword tips are always welcome. I keep a list and just added that "gorpcore" recently, a funny one. Who KNIEW there were so many cores? Cottage core, granny core...gorpcore??? UGH I'm guilty of over-using that EUC acronym in titles since 'excellent used condition" applies to many of my listings, but you're right that buyers don't search that way, and it just confuses them. I do use VTG and MCM and Y2K when applicable - like those short ones. Questions about keywords: I know best to list brand name first in the title, but beyond that - best keyword order? And do we need to use mens' or 'womens' since that is already in a category?

Here's a question I have: when you list a size in a title, should you leave a space between a size and the width? Such as 12M or 12 M? I've wondered if leaving out the space would make it harder to find in a search (but then I know the size is in the item specifics). In fact, I've wondered if there's a custom size listed on the item specifics, such as M/L, if that would confound the search engine. I always struggle with the order of info on a title, what to put first what to go at the end. Beau on YT says to put most important phrase first, what people would search for, even if it doesn't include the model up front, such as: Converse High Top Sneakers... instead of Converse All Star Chuck Taylor High Top Sneakers... I'm always learning from people like you. Thanx for this video
@RachelStrickland Жыл бұрын
I've often wondered the same about 12M. I can say I've added both to the title before with and without the space. Same with 4.5 and 4 1/2. I agree, put those key searchable terms first.
@SL-lz9jr Жыл бұрын
If there’s space, I put multiple size variations. E.g. M and 8 since some women’s clothes sizes are numbered but someone might search for a lettered size. And not everyone filters by size! Sometimes I search eBay entirely based on the search engine without filtering out a single thing. Poshmark search results are garbage so usually I have to rely on category filters to get better results. PS. For shoe sizes, I simply put one with the width and one without. I don’t know who would type in 5 A for shoes instead of 5A. But what do I know.

Ugh 😩 I had a buyer claim INAD on a beautiful vintage MCM rhinestone brooch because they claimed they wanted “MCM” brand (which is also a brand); since then I’m extra careful when using “MCM” in title. If I do; I make sure to specify in description that it’s not the brand MCM. I think eBay must have sided with me because I never got a return request (I don’t accept returns). Lately I’ve been tempted to accept returns; because without them I have very few seller protection. Always love your videos; great info!

Really enjoyed the KEYword video!! Left me with a few questions. You used & and I thought Symbols were a nono and also you use "the" "of" which seem like a waste of words/letters. What is the thought on this? Thank You!

I really see "&" as nearly an abbreviation more than a symbol but there's been some interesting conversation here in the comments and some have said the even omit it from brands like Abercrombie. I will likely continue use of "&" I would skimp on of or the if you need the space. But it you're using 73 of 80 letters keep it in. Does that help?

Great video! I am new to the channel. I had to laugh at your Cole Haan example because I had the same experience with the Nike boots😅

Wow, so glad I found you. I have so many "?" in my titles from mis labeled sizing. One question please. How do I list an ensemble which is a combinations of two brands? Thank you, you are very easy to watch and learn from.
@RachelStrickland7 ай бұрын
Thank you! And I feel I would list that as a two separate listings. I'd be concerned the buyer wouldn't read that it's two brands. Just my personal opinion

@@RachelStrickland Thank you much. So how do I go about selling a complete outfit of more than one brand? If it's broken up no one would ever think to put it together? Should I include a pic of the ensemble on each listing, and hope that one of the pieces doesn't sell to ruin the creation? I have a masters in clothing with "creating a polished complete look" as my main interest. Thanks again.

Great informational video. I needed it. I do have a question for you. I noticed in some of the sample listings you showed, you didn’t capitalize all the words, some had lower case letters. Is there a specific reason for that? I’m not knocking your listings at all, I just noticed that, because I’ve always heard it’s better to capitalize the first letter of every word. Thanks so much.

I don't think search is case sensitive. I have fat thumbs texting my titles at times.
