Being a diabetic, the smart sweets candies are one of the only sweet things I can find in my area that I can have, and I've grown to really like them when I'm having sweet or sour cravings. At first it was weird but not really anymore. I think the fact that u can taste real sugar all the time makes a difference to someone who can't have it at all in anyway.

But they are very high in carbs did it not mess up your blood sugar? I got them but had to return because it was so carb heavy which defeats the purpose for a diabetic.

I'm on Chris' side! I've been eating the Sweet Fish for at least 2 years now and I LOVE THEM. I'm shocked at y'all's reaction to basically all the candy. You can't expect "healthier alternatives" to taste exactly like the real thing anyway. They're good for what you get.

@@gertskook Swedish fish are my fave candy and I’ve tried the sweet fish many a times and I’m always disappointed and wonder why I succumbed to buying them again. Lol. I don’t eat a lot of sweets.. am very health conscious.. and after trying the sweet fish, I’ll just have a cheat snack of Swedish fish if I want them. Consistency is the same but the taste isn’t even close. I do like the gummy worms from this brand tho! And the buddies are decent!

So I know some of the same "flavors" in Canada are different than the US, but the peach rings taste very similar to the peach rings I get in the US. love them and they have a good amount of fiber.

Most of them clearly preferred the sweets with gelatine. Like Chris pointed out, they were fixated on texture. It is quite hard to find a satisfactory vegetarian equivalent to the texture of gelatine, I have been trying to find one and the ones that work the best are usually based on pectine.

it seemed like they also didnt even know that swedish fish, the real ones, are already a different texture than gummy candies like gummy worms and bears. theyre thickened with corn starch not gelatin which totally changes the texture. same with most maynards candy we get in canada, fuzzy peaches, sour cherry blasters, sour patch kids etc. theyre sticky and more "brittle" than gummies made with gelatin. from the video it looks to me like the sweet fish nailed the texture of swedish fish tbh but they made it sound like theyre very different, but i wonder if they know that swedish fish arent gelatin in the first place

I feel like their reaction to the Smart Sweets is extreme. They don’t taste like the regular versions, but they are a good substitute if you are trying to cut candy.

Definitely subjective to individual tastes, I'm diabetic so thought they would be perfect for when I'm craving sugar. I absolutely HATE all of them, there's not a single flavor I'd ever buy again. The flavors aren't good and the textures are terrible. I'd rather go without than eat Smart Sweets again lol.

I almost wonder if the fact that the three of you drank the sweet drink first and then tried the candy while Chris ate the candy and then tried the drinks maybe affected your tasting of them? I also think that how you feel about certain textures matters a lot. Personally the Sweet Fish are my favorites too, based on both taste and texture.

Part of the thing with Smart Sweets is that they have 17 grams of fibre. Most people don't get enough fibre and this is roughly half of your daily needs

@@englishatheart We have learned to like stevia in our coffee I can also drink coffee without sugar now. I can use maple syrup and honey (not creamed does the same thing as sugar). Learn to adapt most recipes but cake and cookies are still a no go the "substitute" sugars make everything rubbery and almost glue like

I am totes in Dibs' camp as far as tasting things. I am one of those who aren't into sour candies/tastes and my BFF is absolutely into it, so our convos on various tastes run a lot like this video, where she's all "this is awesome" while I'm wincing and going "ugh". Hee. I notice our divergence more when it's spicy stuff, since I'm (apparently) borderline allergic to all things pepper and she loves the spicy. Chris was so much like my spouse, tasting all the things and cheerfully determined to be 'scientific' while having a different opinion to the rest of us on the flavors. The texture of the sweet fish is exactly how Swedish fish are, they are not gummy it’s like they have a gummy texture on the outside but inside is super soft chewy candy.

Guys, read the labels. The candy has just as many carbs as the regular stuff. I am Type 1 Diabetic and this would require about the same amount of insulin as the regular candy. And the regular candy tastes better. Just eat the regular stuff in moderation.

I'm surprised you didn't see the red twists smart sweets. Those were the first ones I ever saw and they're still my favorite. I'm a fan of the buddies too and my husband likes the watermelon ones. I know what you mean about the aftertaste, but he's diabetic and I try not to keep too many 'real' candies/desserts around to tempt him, so that's something we've both gotten used to.

Not quite the same but I'm vegetarian so I know the struggle of finding substitutions for your fave candies, you're rarely gonna get something exactly the same the flavour or texture will be slightly off, but if you can find something close enough that scratches the same itch? The powder is citric acid. Smart Sweets are aimed more at super health conscious people (they're in the organic aisle at my supermarket). They're great for people that have allergies or have limits on sugar (e.g. keto, paleo). I have a severe dye allergy so I can't have regular Swedish Fish. I agree that the Sweet Fish are different but I love berry flavours in my candy. I wasn't aware people were getting sponsorships or freebies...I would've tried to get more. I really like that you're trying vitamin/energy drinks as I'm always trying to find some good ones for variety.
