Can you go further into the zone wiring before and after? Also, does the unit come with a battery backup, in case of an electricity interruption? Lastly, now that you’ve had time to play with the unit, would you recommend it or would you suggest a different model/brand? Thanks!!

Is the system smart enough to modify your time duration by itself? For example, a soil sensor to determine how much water I need and proper duration for it?
@itech3014 жыл бұрын
No, you input what type of soil you have, however. It makes a decision based off that.

That thing is pretty sweet. Wish I had an outlet on my back hill. This would be great. Battery powered valves only lasted me a few years.
@kennethmc26014 жыл бұрын
I'm not familiar with battery powered valves, but couldnt you use a 12v solar panel to keep those batteries charged? I have one on my trailer to keep the winch battery charged, it was only like $25 on amazon.

Thank you for this. I thought it was not a good idea to water at night? I would love to see a comparison to Rainbird WIFI system.

Is it possible you make a video of the full setup? you just put a video of how to take away an old system and replace it with this new one.. I have nothing.. or at least link another video please

i have 8 zones in my home. would it be better to go for 8 zone Rachio or a 12 Zone Rachio? Debating, just in the worst case scenario sometime in future if i need to increase zones. is it worth it going for a 12 zone.
@HighTechCheck4 жыл бұрын
If you think you might add zones I would definitely go with the 12

Can I set up three controllers on one app? I have two for my backyard and one for my front.

You sure can

How many zones do you have? You can put it on one controller
@Rob...5 жыл бұрын
so of all those wires you disconnected you only needed 3 of them?
@HighTechCheck5 жыл бұрын
For my particular setup yes
@jamesquigley80213 жыл бұрын
his original setup only had 3 zones as well...No?..... Maybe ur looking at the rain senor ports, which i believe, were bypassed with a jumper.

@Wrecksy4 жыл бұрын
Plenty of people don't finish their basements. Some people only need them for storage. No need to belittle people for doing things differently than you. Open your mind, dude.

This is a nonsense video. This is the worst sprinkler controller you could ever buy. It’s a piece of crap. And I mean it. I bought it in costco. It’s construction is cheap cheap cheap. I had a horrible time trying to connect it to Wi-Fi. It never connected at all. I used to have a rain bird manual controller with dials and stuff, no Wi-Fi etc…. But it worked for 23 years and still does. I just wanted to upgrade to Wi-Fi. It had some stupid blinking lights that tell you nothing. It looked like disco lights. I mean I wanted a sprinkler controller, not some crappy LED. Lights that blink and go left to right for no stupid reason!!! Can’t read shit on the face plate, I mean the zone numbers. Very flimsy wire connections. No LCD read out for time, day etc… can ONLY be controlled by an app which was equally stupid. No instructions for how to connect to wifi. The controller shows up as a hotspot on your phone. Don’t understand why even today. I wouldn’t have cared if that thing actually worked, but it didn’t. I’m sure I was doing something wrong. But I am a freaking electrical engineer and if I couldn’t make it work even after googling it then it’s an absolute waste of some one’s time to make this controller. I bet it cost $5 to make it and they are selling it for $150. Magnetic face plate?? I was horrified when I saw it😮 Well once I realized my mistake I went to Amazon and looked for a rainbird with Wi-Fi and yes of course there was one. I simply ordered it without even thinking for a nano second. It arrived today and it’s a work of ART, people. It is incredibly sturdy. It’s fit for in door and outdoor use. It still has all the manual co trolls too. The app is FANTASTIC. No stupid hot spot to connect to. It connected via blue tooth to my phone and got connected to my wifi system. Absolutely painless. Extremely thoughtfully designed. Extremely rugged and strong. The wire connections are screwed in so they would never slip out. I mean you ought to see it. LCD for time and date etc…I was up and running in minutes and set up my watering times and checked it out and it works great. I am not only pleased, I am ecstatic. A full 💯 to the engineers at Rainbird. They know what they are doing unlike Rachio. Rachio is not a sprinkler company and will NEVER be one. Boy do I feel good after writing this. And by the way the rainbird is $30 more than Rachio. But every cent is well spent. I know this thing will work for another 25 years without a problem. Some one who made such a quality product will certainly have a great customer service, guaranteed. My faith has been restored that someone still makes quality stuff. Rachio management is out to make money. Rainbird is simply trying to irrigate your yard. That’s the difference guys. Take my word for it.

Bought my Rachio 3 last week. VERY EASY setup and config. Automatically found wi-fi and connected first try. Phone(android) app works fine and easy to figure out. Maybe Rachio has improved their setup? I don't know about previous versions, but model 3 was a breeze to install and set up. I replaced a Rainbird controller.
