There's something truly gorgeous about how he accelerates after the opening bell-like chords. Rest in Peace, Mr Falzone. Thank you.

Stupid question: this is different from the normal piano part of the concerto right? In other words it is all tge other orchestral parts arranged for piano? My favorite piece I've always wanted to play. Unfortunately I know I'll never be able to play it at the same level of technical excellence and emotive expression as this (like trying to play Art Tatum), but something I aspire to try before I die. So sad his great creative force is no longer with us
@TheArmchairist2 жыл бұрын
@@reemalin Yes, he arranged the orchestra so that you can play both most of the piano part along with the orchestra, Absolutely genius arrangement that's perfectly composed. I guess just like with Art Tatum, this is the kind of stuff that you just can't fake. It's just so perfectly arranged and played, it truly makes you wonder what he would've done had he lived a few decades longer

Excellent BRAVO BRAVO. PERFORMANCE. THE brillant concert pianist played all the original parts of this piano concerto without sacrificing leaving out any of the. Beautiful. Melodies and harmonies expressed and played in all. Three movements. The 1st movement was BRAVO PLAYING all the orchestra part with the original solo part .this pianist did not leave anything out . mastering this piano concerto as a soloists is never a easy task playing both the orchestra and solo part. The dialogeueing between. The solo part and the orchestra part of all the 1st 2nd and 3rd movements blended. Perfect

@@reemalin There's at least one other version out there. The trick of course is blending the the two components into one cohesive composition. This version is particularly nice and worthy of being published.

It with a great sense of sadness and loss that I come to find Christopher Falzone. His passing has to be one of the if not the greatest musical loss for the world. Brilliant pianist and brilliant mind. His Rachmaninov transcriptions are unbelievable. I'm so happy that they are available on "KZbin". Does anyone know if they were formally recorded? If so please please advise.

I talked to Stanislav Ioudenitch this weekend... You were at Wideman? I had like 8 friends who did it this year (two very good friend of mine were prizewinners) and was thinking about trying again myself. I heard that it was a massacre, as it always is, lol. Yeah. It was crazy this year. 40 really really good pianists. 6 pianists that just had really bad days (I was one of them). I thought Christopher Falzone from Curtis should have taken the top prize. He played Rachy 2, which had been performed by probably 7 people in the prelims. When I heard him play it, it was as if it were the first time I'd ever heard the piece. What an artist!!!!! The guy who played Prokofiev's 2nd in finals did very well, but it wasn't transcendent. The guy who played Tchaikovsky's 2nd did about as well as you can do with that horrible horrible piece. I'd love to hear him play something with a little melody. Bartok's 2nd won. The girl who played it was lovely and I thought she played it well and made it sound manageable. It's just that I felt Falzone took everything to a whole new level. He was simply spectacular. Very little ego, wonderful wonderful shaping, nearly flawless technique, bla bla bla yakkity shmakkity.

Christopher's notes of remembrance about Martha Argerich: "At that moment I find out more about Martha's character. She was so welcoming and hospitable, she was interested in my work in music, in what I learned with Leon Fleisher. She praised my accomplishments, and she especially liked my transcription of Rachmaninoff N.2 With peace of mind let passion out! and sort of enter a very different world to convey my feelings and make it new. The life of artist is very exiting and requires a lot of confidence, courage, flexibility, and creativity. I strove to accomplish the performances with believe in myself."
