I think I never heard these pieces sound so much as chapters of a story before, there is a unspoken unity, a flow of emotion that bind them together as a multifaceted sonata. This is a serious musical achievement. Thank you so much for pouring so much of your noble spirit on this.

These are the Rachmaninoff pieces I love the most. I remember telling a friend in 1987 (a concert pianist from a century ago) about how I loved them and she related her stories of knowing Rachmaninoff.... of how often he kept by himself due to his depression moods. She told me of a party she and her husband held (late 1920s or early 1930s) where he had attended but was nowhere to be found in the house. He was on the back porch steps sitting there with his huge hands (her words) over his knees looking downward. Apparently he suffered depression his whole life, but his reason for sitting on the steps alone was because he missed his home in Russia.
