How great is it that I knew exactly what part you referred to without checking the timestamp

I just came from the Houston Symphony and they played this (for reference today is March 12, 2022). I loved every second of it.

That big chord in the second movement that acts as a transition into another part (I call it a wall) reminds me of a part of Beethoven’s “Hunt” Piano Sonata. It’s in the A-flat major movement. After the main theme, there’s a huge F major chord that directly leads into something completely different.

Why didn’t Rach write the fourth movement in 12/8

Why is this symphony so often played with numerous cuts, while Beethoven’s ninth, the first symphony lasting more than an hour, isn’t? Not to mention Mahler symphonies.

"symphony has often been plagued by various cuts" but not anymore largely, right?

Yeah, the trend seems to go towards fewer cuts now.

There is another KZbin video that I took the audio from: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4akiXuPj7Cfp6s. It has more information about this performance of the piece and a video recording.

@@MarcelSimader Your works are of a very advanced aesthetic, I do not understand why composers like you are not recognized worldwide :(
