I don't know what's more exciting, watching this simple, honest, uncomplicated man completely lost in his true love of the piano, making love to it, or, watching that cute tuft of hair on the back of his head. I keep wanting to play with it. Happy Birthday Andrei, on the 10th. Russians and only russians can really play Rachmaninov, like no others. The best rach 3 I've ever heard.

great - an awesome pianist, though am a little surprised how many mistakes he makes here, esp. in Mvt. III. Also, not taking the more difficult Ossia @ 36:01 ... and not that the Ossia is difficult, no more than Feux Follets, Schumann Toccata, or Chopin op. 25 no. 8! Artistic choice by Andrei maybe.

They gave the gold medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition to another Russian male that this pianist can play circles around! (so what else is new?) Hopefully this remarkable artist will get the major career he so richly deserves. In regard to this performance, it will live beyond the pyramids!!!

good observation.... they often seem to award the gold to the pianist that will not make it without the jury's help. the real pianists will make it, anyway... with or without help

Yes, this most modest appearing man who transforms to a tiger. As a long ago concert pianist (in college) I can't begin to imagine Korobeinikov's torturous practice sessions. perhaps an hour of scales, an hour of Czerny BEFORE taking whatever piece is on the agenda. The incredible facility, commitment to the score, and attention to detail, and the FIRE. It goes to show that Bronfman's beautiful lyricism can have it's counterpart, this tremendously virile performance, and BOTH be equally reward. Thanks to the poster for this most electric video.

An upcoming virtuoso. Definately the hardest and taxing piano concerto to tackle. At the time it was completed, Sergei stated that there was in his opinion only 3 pianists who could do full justification to this work. He couldn't, his hands were too big.

@Bulbophile6 жыл бұрын
absolutely not true. Horowitz will never go down in history for a moment of music, sincere beautiful transcendental emotions etc. He will only ever go down in history as a man who could impress with a remarkable (though limited) technique -- never having produced a definite set of Chopin etudes, nor anything of the like.
