Volodos is immortalizing Rachmaninoff's songs. I love Earl Wild, but Volodos may even be a bit more magnificent.

Magnificent. Currently he is the only pianist who can do this.
@donkgated80742 жыл бұрын
I want to think he isn't the only one who can do it, but the tone and colours he can get out of the piano is truly otherworldy.

Nice to hear this beautiful transcription of this Rachmaninoff´s song, because Rachmaninoff himself was a great master of transcriptions!

What? Why does it make him sad?
@masterofsynapsis6 жыл бұрын
Volodos said in an interview that seeing people on YT playing his Turkish March made him sad. Same thing with people asking him for the Turkish March score after a concert. So with that being said, this man made a lot of really beautiful transcriptions why not play one of those for a change?
@shawnmand56076 жыл бұрын
I saw the interview too. I think he's sad that most people don't recognize his true intentions as a musician. He has also said that his management all but forced him to perform these virtuosic pieces at the beginning of his career. I think he doesn't mind if people play his transcriptions in general: he himself played Horowitz and Feinberg and Earl Wild transcriptions. He just wants his audience to move on like he has. This particular piece is amazing: every recording seems to have a new harmony or voice brought out. I really hope we get a recording of his new Scriabin and Rachmaninoff program soon. It's been 9 years since his Vienna recording when we last heard Russian music.

Tompiano999 I don’t know, but we probably have to wait a few years...as usual with him. I compare him with Daniel Day-Lewis, rarely makes a movie but when he does he takes home the Oscar. I think Volodos is in part a bit responsible for the whole Turkish March situation. Yes he makes beautiful transcriptions but how can we share them if he avoids almost every tv appearance?
@Tompiano9996 жыл бұрын
hiya, yes i agree. although he does do abit more media these days than years ago when he did absolutely zero. we have him in the studio on some tv show podium witten? playing this rachmaninoff piece also, quite recently.

Better is a bad word to use at this level a little "different" might be a better choice of words How to say one is better between Ashkanazy, Giliels, Lugansky Juja Wang Richter, Howowitz. ??????

He feels more comfortable playing on a chair than a piano bench. That is what I heard.
@KaisarAnvar3 жыл бұрын
I’ve met him once. He said the chair with a back support like this, helps him to produce better quality sound when he performs literature works such as Schubert and Schumann.
