Hi Dave, no mooring this year. I’m quite happy staying on the trailer. I quite often take the boat away on little adventures and gatherings throughout the year so it suits me.

@@LlangollenFoundry To be honest Nick, the Lugger is so easy to launch, especially if the mast can be kept up, that I often wonder about keeping her on the trailer too. Many advantages of that. I may be being a bit forward here, but if you ever want company on a trip away then I am definitely up for it, I think a few of the Bala Luggers are too. I am trying to get some of them to come and sail to Anglesey next season!

Dave I think you would be much faster if you tighten your mains down haul. It should be pulled down very tight. If I’m wrong please correct me anyone….

Hi Dwight Many thanks for the comment. You are indeed very right!! I have been quite lazy when it comes to getting the mainsail optimised, especially on the Luff and downhaul, but I will work on it in the coming weeks. Also over the winter I am going to look at the mainsail properly so we can get it fully optimised.

Wind some tack downhaul on, Its the single most important control on a lugger.

CHeers for the comment. Yes definitely right. I need to sort that Tack and clew out to be honest. Been quite lazy about it!!! I have tried to mimic the tack downhaul on the boom I have, so it's much like the Mirror set up but I found this has still left a gap so I think I'm going to re-do the tack downhaul more like a cunningham which pulls the Luff tight and is connected to the mast, not the boom.
