This video was a ton of fun to make, obviously we knew what was going to happen, but its actually a good benchmark for the Type-S whenever it gets boosted--unless the C63 gets boosted before that👀

I’ve noticed a lot of people saying this recently, they’re definitely getting harder to find in good shape, especially the 6MT’s(I’d love to swap my trans eventually)-mine definitely needs some TLC to make it perfect but it’s pretty good for its age!

Yeah even 6mt type s were inexpensive used before recent inflation. Affordable means young dudes ricing/clapping them out. A lot more recent youtube content than before on the 3g TL platform because of this

@@NickTrelford hey Man I was wanting to know if you would have any idea if this would work. But I really want the XLR8 catback but can’t find it anywhere. Would me just doing a straight pipe cat back give me the same sound considering you have the mufflers off? (I do know yours is resonated and mine wouldn’t)

Honestly as long as the piping is the same diameter and routed in the same/ a similar way, I don’t see why it wouldn’t! You could even add in a Vibrant resonator to get rid of any rasp and I think it would sound really similar. Another option would be the ATLP catback, I believe it’s similar to the XLR8

There’s a J37 swap 6mt fbo e85 tl on youtube that could maybe hang with a stock w204 c63. But it’s probably more cost effective to boost instead

Yeah the J37 swapped cars seem pretty impressive even N/A, which makes me wonder, if I’m going to swap to a 6MT trans anyways prior to boosting the car, if it would make sense to just do a full J37/6MT drivetrain swap lol-I’ll have to look into it a bit more!

Good shit bro honestly the only thing killing the type s is that transmission. Man if only they had some sort of upgrade for that automatic after 3rd gear it’s dead for the auto unfortunately. That shit robs the car of well over 35 wheel horsepower smh. Auto or not still a beautiful type s regardless and a powerful car with potential to be even more powerful. Always good to see a auto type s out here performing. Big respect to both cars they are both beautiful and awesome✊ 💯

Thanks man!🙏 I completely agree, I’m planning to do a 6MT swap whenever I have time or can find a shop to do the work, I’ve driven 6MT TL’s before and it’s just so much more fun to drive-the auto really does die after 3rd and I just prefer a manual if it’s not a DCT auto, conventional torque converter autos are just awful😂

I don't know, if the engine is a 3.2 liter - yes, those are quite slow in fourth. When I was still running a J32A2 in my Honda Inspire (which has a similar transmission, the B7WA) - it didn't feel strong in fourth by any means, but since I've done the 3.5 conversion (J35 crank and rods, J32A2 pistons, heads, cams, and all of the bolt ons) - now it even shoves me into my seat when I'm going WOT in fourth. Granted, my car has the Japanese speed limiter at 180 km/h, but that's still enough to feel how it pulls in fourth. I don't know, maybe my gearing is slightly different? I know that, for example, the JDM Honda Legend KB1 has different gearing compared to the European model. As for the manual - I actually had one in my car, from a 2005 Acura TL, and I have to say that they're not as bulletproof as people claim they are. The third gear grind drove me insane, and missing/grinding gears has consequences (and you're bound to do that at some point, no matter how good of a driver you are). I got unlucky with mine, dealt with a string of unfortunate circumstances that ultimately forced me to revert the car to automatic, but that's a completely different and rather long story.

Yeah this is the 3.5! The original J35 was replaced with a decently low KM J35 I was told was imported from Japan(I guess out of an RL or something?), and it’s honestly not terrible in the higher gears, I’m just used to the C63’s gearing where the higher gears pull really hard and it feels like it keeps getting faster haha, but I remember the previous owner of my TL doing some runs before I bought it and being dead even with my other buddy’s 6MT Type-S, so it’s decent🤟

bro does your type s redline in 4th gear and 5th gear? yesterday I tried on mine, downshifted to 3rd from 5th when I was at 100km/h, the rpm won't rev past 5k in 4 th gear and I had to change the gear. Do you know what could be the issue? Also, my spark plugs are near to end so if that something you would suspect? Also no 3rd cat I deleted it. Please help thanks!

That’s a tough call man, I love the look of the TL, the aftermarket is better, and the J35 seems to have pretty good potential especially when you start talking F/I like the Gerzy Bear Rotrex kits, but the E63 is going to be significantly faster stock for stock imo and will drive much more like a Scat being that it’s both rwd and V8-have you driven both? That’s really the only way you’ll be able to decide, they’re very different cars/drivetrains.

I had a full service done pre purchase by the dealership, and since then I’ve literally just done oil changes/typical fluids and it’s been absolutely perfect! I’m going to replace the injectors and maybe pick up the cam adjusters kit from 63 Motorsports but these are pretty bulletproof drivetrains IMO! And honestly at 6’3 you should be fine, I’m about 6’ and I feel like I sit pretty low with the seat on the lowest setting, I think you’ll have plenty of room🤟

Great choice of Wheels as well. And that carbon fiber rear diffuser is also insane! Beautifully done. They're not making anything like that anymore so enjoy it for many years to come

Dude, talk about another level! Difference is night and day. I couldn't pass it up, it has the p31 package and lsd. No mods other than replacing oem to all brembo rotors and ceramic brake pads. Scared to do anything given how touchy Mercedes are. I'll do k&n filter I guess. If I were to do anything it probably would be something with the ecu, only to unlock the m156 true potential.
