Hello and Welcome to another video from Thomas at BOAB models. Today we'll be taking a look at Tamiya's F1 Racing Pit Team in 1/20. This kit was made for cars from the late 1970s but also suits the early to mid 1980s.

I have that set too and intend to use it for the Tyrrell P34 of 1977. The Team Manager unfortunatly looks so much like Colin Chapman, that I might not use him. This additional decalsheet is very interesting. First of all, it must be quite old, as Tamiya included cigarette advertising, which was most likely stopped in the early 1990's. All Teams included seem to be from 1979: Martini Lotus, Williams, Arrows and Renault. The Williams was released back then. The Lotus followed just a few years ago. But Tamiya never released an Arrows and there was no Renault with Jabouille in 1/20 scale as well. Interestingly they did the same with the other figure sets too. The driver and race engineer set comes with decals for a Benetton B190, and the Tire changing pit crew has decals for the Ferrari Crew of 1991. At least Tamiya released one of these Ferrari's as a diecast.

Thanks for the information - it's curious how they went to the lengths of licensing it for so many teams which they didn't even make cars. I have a Tyrrell from 1976 built so that's an idea. I have a few other F1 kits from the era too though so it's hard to choose.

I well remember those sets in the model shops in the 70’s 80’s, never got them myself as I don’t do figures but I know you’ll do a good job with them, model on

@@BOABModels could use any car of the period, maybe a Le Mans car like a Porsche 917.

@@Sarah-JaneR32 I've been thinking of making a pit crew for my XJR9 but the issue with these is that they are 1/20 instead of 1/24.
