the lid is just sitting in front there when open by design. it is lifted and replaced to cover the engine, it's not hinged.

@@shifty1927Spec cars, even “cheap” ones are not cheap. A good cage costs money, setting the car up to spec requirements costs money … buying a previously set up car costs money. Attending the events costs money, as does traveling to them. Not to mention brakes, tires, repairing damage (inevitable in W2W) … racing, even at the lowest of levels is an immensely expensive hobby.

Internet people have no idea that professional race cars all have cats. A 1997 E36 STW (BTCC) had cats and so does every GT4 car. They are placed much farther away from the engine though.

The Cup is just over 2775 lbs. There is a minimum weight in competition trim that is inclusive of the driver and his/her gear - I think it’s around 2,950 lbs - have to check the regs. The cup car is a beast of a race car. Honestly it’s really good value for what it is and how it performs. There are parts that you can add to make it more suitable for an endurance race as well, check out the cars that run in the Nurburgring series. They have front canards, fender vents, pagid endurance pads, drink system, fuel tunnel opening in the hood for faster refills of fuel, and auxiliary lights. There is also an European International GT Cup series that the 992 Cup competes against Ferrari Challenge Cars - so some more options to run the car in competition. I have a ‘22 Cup with all the updates and it’s by far the best race car I’ve owned/ driven. The performance envelope is quite extensive for how close it is to the street car.
