About the diff and the long gears, i would go for an AU falcon LSD if you can find one in SA, but an old thing we used to do was take the rear diff from an Isuzu KB240, those were perfect for drag racing, not sure if people still use it but it worked wonders back then. Another option is the 9 inch for fairmont rear end, the fairmont gt came with a 3.00:1 rear diff, as far as i know its only in the manual fairmonts but check with professionals if this will work with your gearbox
