Living in Japan as a mixed-race Indian, I can relate to you to a certain degree. I haven’t faced anything extreme as you have in Korea. But the subway thingy is everywhere in east Asian countries I guess. The same happens in Japan too. Not only the elderlies but also the youngsters don’t like sitting next to a foreigner/ someone who doesn’t look like one of the natives. I used to get a lil offended before but trust me now I’m kinda happy they don’t sit anywhere near me so I can sit comfortably. Lol also people do try avoiding you if they see you approaching them… they are just hella scared cause they can’t speak English. I have never asked anyone to take my photos but I have asked direction in Japanese to Japanese people and they did help me. Hearing your story, I guess the Koreans are lil more aggressive and frankly rude than the Japanese? 🤔

I been in Korea I study In Korea but I feel they don’t like Indian people it’s harsh but it’s reality even I do my master Hong Kong polytechnic I didn’t feel this For eg 1. they didn’t give room to Foreigner 2. In lab Korean student make their alliance and they didn’t talk 3. When we go some places like lotte word the same problem 4. Living in USA for almost 17 years now and I’ve studied and lived here. Racism is everywhere including India. As a South Indian, I went to North India & was discriminated a lot. What the girl did to you may or may not be racism. During covid, I noticed many did not want to touch someone else’s camera or phone. Ok its common thing that not only in korea but wherever you go people don't accept you 100% and its ok i feel like in case of that girl its not racism but koreans are like shy and feel uncomfortable with foreigners so may be she do that because she feel odd and its not negative and rest of the thing yes everywhere we find good and bad people so ignore the bad on cherish the good one my friend is also in korea she say korean are so kind but their shyness

I know most of the Ajhummas "not all" are very bitchy and rude like they came out straight out of some bad kdrama. But look at the brighter side, you're so strong, 💪I mean ..You hail from INDIA.. so be proud of our culture that we are so much welcoming whether its a foreigner or the guest from our neighbourhood . So, don't mind them too much , some people we will never change no matter how hard you try to please them cuz they have a really backward mentality plus Korean people are mostly very closed and shy type, like you mentioned, they shy away or refrain from conversing with a foreigner, cuz most of them have issues- either a beauty complex or not knowing english type of complex issue. Everything has good or bad side .No matter where you are , you have to fight for yourself . I think we should choose the good side and ignore the bad side .Choosing korea i think a excellent decision for its high technology and talking about international wherever you go you will face problems but it's depend on you how you react and Success will never come from comfort zone and maturity will realise you that the people around you will not always like you , treat you well and that's very normal
