Nice rack layout. I was a stomp box guy for a lot of years but just starting to get back into the rack side of things again. Big advantage to get away from the stomp dance on stage.

Just for the hell of it, my rack has a DeMaria tube compressor, Ashley parametric EQ, Furman digital reverb, & Korg digital delay. The equipment is freakin' ancient (like me), but works really well.

Great tour of your rig. Thank you. Question: Where did you get your case? Also, is airflow a concern at all?

Nice rig, almost identical to my bass rig. It's everything you have there, except my effects rack is an Avid Eleven Rack. Love the review and explanation, good job!!
@edegagne6 жыл бұрын
UPDATE: The Eleven Rack lasted about 21 days, sent it back. Not because the unit was horrible, but because Avid tech support is non-existent for this unit. This is an end of life item for Avid. Stay away. Instead, upgraded to a Line 6 Helix rack unit.

whats the wiring signal look like can you break down how and where one would start to set a rig up signal wise??????
@tcos3324 жыл бұрын
Great rig, I’d just say to just go for the extra $100 and get a p-series Furman Power Conditioner. You can even get a PL-Plus C with Voltmeter for like $175 online or cheaper so only like $50 more than yours and you get the protection to where yea on a merit series, like yours, it will protect your equipment but usually doesn’t work after so you’re forced to buy another. Get a low priced P series so it can withstand surge and can be used again.

I do have a question, how do i connect rack units to an amp? Does it go into the input or the fx loop? I tried looking up videos but all of them are just showing off their rigs lol, not hating :(. It would be cool to see a video from scratch connecting rackmountd to an amp with wiring and all. Nobody has done it yet
@gram440a4 жыл бұрын
I'd say it depends on what kind of a unit you're talking about. If you're using a preamp/effects rack unit for most of your sounds and you just want the amp for power, I would plug that into the effects return. If you're talking about enhancing the amp's normal sound with a few effects (such as chorus/delay) you effects loop send to the rack, then back to the return. Something like a tuner would probably be in the front.

So I'm completely new to live guitar, and is this essentially an alternative to a pedal board?
@solarfly_8 жыл бұрын
Normally you run your rack effects through the send/return loop of your amp, which puts the effects between the pre and post, while in contrast, you'll run your pedals between your guitar and the input jack.

nice rack (heh heh) - how are you digging the line 6 g90 - they look nice etc but i hear a lot of horror stories about them and other line 6 products - i see this video was made two years ago, what can you say about this product bc i was maybe thinking about getting one - thank you in advance
@JGuitar1298 жыл бұрын
Haha! I recently just sold it actually only because I was downgrading my gear a bit, but it was an awesome unit! There was never any latency issues or lack of bass from my tone, the only thing is that I would have to angle my antennas out a bit when playing live or the sound would cut out at times but this was very rare that it would do this. Overall it was a great unit and I'd highly recommend it. I think it's actually the most high end wireless unit on the Line 6 market?

nice gear man! what type of rack case is that? cheers!
@JGuitar1298 жыл бұрын
The case I was using was a Gator 6 Space Rack Case!
@afterthefox79 жыл бұрын
The smart thing to do would be to buy a 1 u rack space power amp and carry two 10 inch or 12 inch speaker cabinets to get the real stereo sound out of your rig, put one cabinet 10 away from you over on the other side of the drummer, and one behind you. Why get an effects unit if you're not going to use it to its full potential? buy a mono system. duhhh!
@JGuitar1299 жыл бұрын
But I am using this effects unit to it's full potential because it is only effects based (reverb, delay, chorus, flanger, etc.) and doesn't have any type of overdrives or presets. That's why I use it in along side my EVH 5150 III since it's strictly effects. Maybe when I eventually get a Kemper profiling amp, then I'll switch up my setup.
@afterthefox79 жыл бұрын
JGuitar129 So you're running it in stereo? right? Unless you go out and buy another 5150 its not being used to its full potential. A chorus in stereo is heavenly a flanger in stereo will literally make you dizzy, a reverb makes your house turn into a cathedral and that's any effects unit. I don't use too much distortion either but, the other effects are awesome, try it you might like it.
@afterthefox78 жыл бұрын
The best which would be "The Matrix NL 12 Neolight" speakers and "The Matrix GT-1000FX" power amp. $499.00 per cabinet and $799.00 power amp. ( everything is under Fractal Audio Systems makers of The Axe FX Systems. p.s.: I know you have the money ;-)
