The Thule 599 UpRide is a universal upright bike rack with zero frame contact. The Thule UpRide was designed for fast and secure mounting along with maximum protection of the bicycles frame. The UpRides versatile design gives you the ability to accommodate bikes with unique frames, rear suspension, and can even handle carbon framed bikes.
The UpRide roof-mounted bike rack is designed to hold your bike by the wheels only, with no parts of the rack making contact with the bike's frame. This makes it ideal for bikes with carbon frames or other sensitive frames, mountain bikes, and more.
Thule UpRide securely carries almost any kind of bike and is foolproof to load and secure. Fits bikes with tires up to 3 inches right out of the box, if you need to carry larger wheeled bikes there are Fat Bike Tire Cradles sold separately that will accommodate a bike up to a 5-inch tire.
The UpRide comes with an integrated cable lock that you can install Thule's one key system in order to lock your bike onto the rack. You can also install a second lock cylinder into the mounting hardware to prevent someone from removing the UpRide from your vehicle.

A great product and I've been using one for 5 years and have recently upgraded to a Merida electric assisted mountain bike and am using the Upride rack on a homemade 2 ebike holder using a 2'' hitch setup.

just installed this, it seems very well built. My only question is nothing seems to locking the arms in place when there is no bike on the roof, am I right? I'm just worried about movement when driving when no bike is there.

Great video thanks for posting this. The Thule manual is quite weak, and as a beginner one can spend some time figuring things out. Does the stowed away position when empty stay sturdy while driving? I feel like the arms that hold the wheels can fly up upon a big bump and thus don't trust it leaving it empty without a bike. Thank You

Glad to hear it was helpful! The arm on the rack are design for this not to occur, so you should encounter that issue with this rack

Good video I love this rack. But recently it’s not locking into place. I still use it and it works but it won’t make that clicking sound it does when it locks. Any idea why? I actually got it from you guys at Rack Attack. I got ahold of someone but all I was told was bring the rack to a store to get checked out. The problem is I don’t have one near me. Help!

Hi guys, do you maybe know how long of a mudguard (on the front wheel) the bike can have to still fit the rack?

Hello. We have no specific mudguard suggestions, however, the front wheel supports are well clear of the front and rear of the front fork area leaving a fair amount of clearance for mudguard. Thanks!

1st! 🤓 You mentioned it can mount via the T-slot or to a square bar using the “under bar plate,” but what options, if any, are there for the other usual suspects (round, aero and factory bars)? Thule website doesn’t seem too clear. Thx!

Hello. The 598 has less movement because it connects directly to the frame, whereas the 599 holds the bike by the front wheel/tire, this style inherently will have more movement but both are equally safe for travel. Thanks!

I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. kzbin.infoUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

Yakima roof bike attachment is better. Way easier. I have both Thule and Yakima on my Thule roof bike system.
