Hey Jack! That Pontiac brings back memories of my childhood; my grandfather had a turquoise '68 Catalina two-door sedan (final year for that body style) from 1970 to 1977. I really enjoyed riding in it every chance I got. Pontiac knew what it was doing back in '68; they had models that suited every customer and every preference! Whether it was a bread-and-butter model like this Catalina, or a luxury Grand Prix, or a legendary GTO or Firebird, there was something for everyone! Pontiac has been gone for more than 10 years now, but we will never forget those good old days, and there are thousands of them still around for us to reflect and say, "My father (mother, brother, etc.) had a Pontiac like this!" That's one of the reasons why I do these videos...countless viewers have told me how they feel connected with the people they knew in the past, and the cars they drove! There's nothing like the experience of riding or driving these cars when you're young...you notice every detail of these cars and often dream of owning one when you're of age! I remember when my neighbors came home with one of these a brand new, 400 2 bbl. Dark purple sedan. I was always amazed with that huge V on the front bumper.

Absolutely gorgeous Pontiac. I owned a 68 Catalina from 1983 to 1995. It had the 400 2V. I when I sold the car it had over 200,000 miles on it with no rebuild of the engine or transmission and it still ran good and had good power. I can imagine the 428 had some serious power. Also the a/c is a real plus mine didn't have that. Thanks for posting.

Hey Jack ! Very nice 1968 Pontiac Catalina 4 door sedan , This Pontiac still looks factory fresh & screams road trip cross country & the rear end on these always had the look of a frown☹face , I'm sure with that awesome 428 C.I. power plant sucking premium fuel at 10 mpg at least & at 72 cents a gallon the frown was appropriate on rear end design . But she is still a time capsuel , & would be one hell of trip on an interstate with speed & comfort.

Beautifully done car. Color and wheels add a lot to the car. 428 doesn’t appear original given that the rad support emblem isn’t present and the air cleaner is from a 400 (428 had a larger snorkel). Also all 428’s in 68 would have chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers.

What does ‘Exempt miles’ mean on the card in the windscreen?

Hey, Mick! My understanding is that state motor vehicle license bureaus often exempt a car that's over a certain age from reporting the miles driven via the odometer. I think it's a frank admission that often the odometer doesn't indicate the true mileage because of disconnection, or repair, or not registering over 99,999.9 without going back to 0.0 Instead, an exhaustive collection of repair receipts would be a better indicator if they included the date and mileage. I so very much disliked that nose when these came out - and i still very much dislike that nose. I loved the '67s but the '68s really disappointed me. Other than that, though, this is a beautiful car.
