The Vcore 95 also works pretty well with the OHBH. I'm using the 2018 version. It feels stable, solid and is powerful enough to get the ball back over even if you mishit a little.

I think Blade is also good for OHBH. I setup my blade v8 16x19 with an RPM Blast Rough 20/18kg. I think for blade, 16x19 gives you the extra spin. My string tension combination gives you power and great amount of spin.

100% I did a lot of trial and error with sub 100” sticks until I landed on the Blade 98. Admittedly I added a leather grip + some lead under the handle to take it to 6-7pts head light. But stability, speed and power is beautiful on the OHBH

I would add in the Head Prestige Pro or the Prestige Tour from the previous generation. The Prestige Pro has a 98 sq inch head and the Tour has a 95.

Comment: A lot of these are chosen for their head light characteristics, which is great in isolation for the 1hbh, but that comes with consequences elsewhere. For example, I feel like you may miss out on some power on the serve with such a head light racket. I have a 1hbh, and prefer something a bit heavier, because I can get some serious payback on the serve (I'm 6'4" and like to really chase speed on the serve). So, my thoughts are that its a compromise across the board.

I mean, I feel that they both would work well but it just would depend on what you want out of the racquet. @@brodytaylor2020It was my first racket after a 12 year break. I'm a OHBH and the Speed felt sluggish and erratic sometimes. I'm 190cm and 90kg with a medium-high level so I can generate my own power. I did a thorough research and this was affordable (dec 23) and felt much more precise. Needed weight at 12 and at the handle but now is great. Started with Velocity / SPPP 23/21 great but durability of 3h isn't enough. What would you recommend for some that uses BOTH a 1-handed backhand and a 2-handed backhand? I know. I’m weird. I have tennis elbow that occurs frequently. It seems to relieve the elbow irritation if I switch occasionally to a 2-handed backhand. What would you recommend then? I’d slide to stick with a 97-98 sq in. head size.
@brodytaylor2020
@brodytaylor2020 2 ай бұрын
Maybe try the new version of the Head Extreme Tour. You still have the 98 head size but with a little bit more weight in the head of the racquet, it will help give a bit more power to your 2 hander even for a 98 head-size while having a slight adjustment needed when going to your 1 hander. That would be where I would say to start since it also is going to be a little bit easier on your arm compared to some other brands.

Great video! I might give some of these a try. I’m currently taking a break due to tennis elbow. I just started playing tennis in January after not playing for 20+ years. (I turned 41 in May) I played in the intermediate class to start and moved up to the advanced class pretty quickly. I don’t think my arm strength/muscles built up the strength I needed for my racquet head speed with the pace of the advanced class. I do use a pure drive so I had it restrung to a softer string and less tension. I’m also doing some physical therapy to strengthen my arm. Hopefully in a month or two I’ll be ready to go!
@brodytaylor2020
@brodytaylor2020 2 ай бұрын
That’s awesome that you came back to the sport after 20+ years!! It’s great that you got your Pure Drive restrung lower and with a more arm friendly string. I would say to look more towards the Head racquets I mentioned because they tend to be a little bit easier on the arm compared to some of the others. You may want to start with the Radical MP since it will be a lower weight so your muscles can recover and get used to the motion compared to the Radical Pro

I used to struggle with tennis elbow becos of excessive playing and the unfortunate jarring mis-hits (I'm in my mid-50s and so I'm not as quick anymore). I switched to a ProKennex Q+ Tour Pro and that racket is certainly friendly on the arm. And in the same vein as Brody mentioned, it has a slightly smaller head (98), comes in at about 325g unstrung, with a nice head-light balance just under 11pts unstrung). I've also customized the racket further to suit my playing style, and it has kept me and my arm happy :) That said, as a one-handed BH player, I concur with Brody on the head-light & manoeuvrability point as well as the heavier racket (at the handle) for stability. In my opinion, the head size wouldn't be my main concern and I could customize a 100 sq in head to still work for me. Just sharing my experience. I agree with Brody's reasoning and I think you could use his logic to customize a decent platform racket to better suit your style rather than spend on a new racket, which seems to be getting increasingly more expensive.

@brodytaylor2020 2 ай бұрын
I appreciate you commenting this and especially mentioning your ProKennex Q+ Tour Pro. I have not got to see that one myself so thank you for mentioning it! I do also agree with you that with customization anyone could make almost every racquet work for their specific game. I tended to lean more on the side of smaller head sizes here since I did not want to bring customizing up as a main way to make the racquets playable especially if someone does not know how to properly do that. That's also what many of the people that I talked with also said when I was gathering information for the video as well
