I had to track RADA down, after finding some old knives that I remembered from when I was young in my fathers house - after he passed away. Solid metal handle and blades, that were cast together in a single piece. On the blade of one I could barely make out the word "CHUPPA" And this led me on a merry internet chase that came to RADA... These ARE the same, but where "CHUPPA" comes into it I don't know (?) Something to track down maybe... But now I have a complete set with the new Dishwasher Safe handles, and they are SWEET!!! A family memento that was and is made to last. I still have the originals From the 1950's... 👍

@@Robinson-Homestead My father was an aerospace engineer, I spent 20 years (and a month) in the US NAVY, Carrier Air as an avionics guy. So, there was a lot of early sixties influence in my life and the thing about these kitchen knives was that they were... CAST It just kept coming back to me over the years that they were virtually ONE PIECE, and thus almost impervious to damage, such as loose handles or rivets popping out. And the blades were high quality stainless(304?) steel. What (I decided) a perfect design..... 💎I treasure them

I bought one wheely sharpener just to see if this was on the level. Yep, sure is. So I bought 3 more for gifts. It even sharpened my cheapo keychain knife super super sharp!! No kidding.

These are top of the line. Get a good knife set , and sharpener , and you will never be sorry. RADA is my favorite. The sharpener is the best. Try one !! Cut roast beef so thin the in-laws will never be back!!

The sharpener is tungsten carbide, most likely. If you don’t have a honing rod, I would suggest getting one. Depending on how much you use your knives, you may not have to sharpen them every year. Just use the honing rod and it will realign all of your knives cutting edge.

Kevin Robinson No problem! I forgot to say that there’s a different knife sharpener/honing that isn’t as aggressive as that one,which is impressive. It’s basically just two rods of carbide and plastic to hold it. I think I may get that sharpener though. It’s impressive how much it can take off. The other sharpener is nice for tiny rolled edges and a more aggressive honing. I wonder what that sharpener is made from. It basically just looks like two washers that overlap. I’ve seen those electric knife sharpeners take at least two times as long as you did and they still didn’t get the results of your sharpener.

They could be a stainless steel, as magnets stick well.
@robertnordeen46312 жыл бұрын
It sure peels the metal off real easy.

No, definitely not carbide. The wheels are a very hard tool steel. The RADA blades are a softer SS alloy and therefore sharpen easy on the wheels. Rada uses softer steel in order to make sharpening fast and easy, you just have to do it more often. It is a good trade off. You are still going to need some harder pro knives if you do any butchering, but RADA is my go to kitchen knife.

I have those sharpeners screwed to all my workbenches. Sharpens any damn thing well. The blades are a little thin, but that is often an advantage. Don't over sharpen, you will end up with a tooth pick.
