One thing I don't like that's probably a side effect of the original game design, is that objects don't break off or respawn when they explode now that we have that feature. It's kinda silly to watch a missile/bomb hit, explode, then bounce off and sit idle. Hehe.

@@daviddemmers130 The way stormworks decides how to simulate a vehicle once it is spawned in and no longer needs to check the layout because the game knows it can't break off is what allows the game to run decently with alot of ships. Also with the way blocks are painted it would expose alot of unpainted bits. All in all this would be terrible for game performance.

To make missiles more precise without being too complex you can replace the function (x) by function (x,y,z) then you add two property numbers which are going to be the x and y "ratios". Then you connect the functions the next way: x=target angle (x or y angle). y=x/y "ratio". z=target distance (from the radar). Then you enter the following function: x*(z/y). This will make the missile's sensitivity decrease the closer it is to the target, reducing it's chances to miss by a lot. You can increase the sensitivity by reducing the ratios and viceversa. Edit: I use 20 as my ratio for both axis. Also, if you need to invert the output just multiply the ratio by -1 (on my case it would be -20)

Stormworks devs if you see this please make the military more killable. I hit anything but a jet and they just keep going, but they hit me and BOOM whatever vehicle I use stops functioning most of the time. Either fix it and make people happy or at least lower the amount of military that spawns in (would also help with frames). Also a bit more variety in their vehicles, maybe infrantry soldiers would be cool (but I don’t think that’s needed).

The enemy vehicles have all of their logic in one point and they dont have an interior. You need to capture them and search for weak points so you know where to shoot

i don't think "never miss" is going to be possible; but you can probably have a deflection formula based on relative speed and distance - though that might be a bit too complex

Can anyone elaborate on the most recent patch? Bypassing the functions and feeding the radar output directly into the respective control surfaces seems to get the missile closer to target now. But we are failing to get a single hit.

I do that by adding a laser beacon on my creations and then adding laser point detectors on my weapons. They're both configured on a set wavelength, so I make that, for example, my radar aimed weapons only fire when they don't detect a laser at said wavelength. The problem with this is that players don't have a laser beacon xD, but you can solve that by preventing your guns from shooting if the radar's target is at less than 20m (i.e.)

On my auto defense turrets I have laser point sensors that look for a decision frequency emitted by laser beacons on my other vehicles. If a turret aims at a vehicle but gets the laser signal, it won't fire.

To all the lads that complained Stormworks doesnt rly support combat with its physics= From The Depths is the combat focused game that will fit your need. You can program your own missiles, ship, etc. Or if you are new or lazy, just use AI mainframe that will do 95% of the things for you! Combat systems are easy to edit and manage with the dev improving game steadily! The downside is no civilian features (which is good cuz otherwise you'll be doing lots of warcrimes) I tried Stormworks to learn more bout complexity in ship design and have a rest from kabooming stuff...

I play a lot of building games, and From the Depths is by far the best one. not only is it designed from the ground up with REAL modular weapons. But after you build something, theres actually something to DO with your creation. including several balanced conquest style campaigns, and many other modes. Also several people can all work on the same craft, at the same time. A lot of stuff is much simpler to setup too, like missiles for instance. but if u want, u can still lua script the missiles to do what ever u want them to. I love building, but i would argue about 30% of my 300 hours in stormworks is going into a MC, tweaking 1 number in the lua script, then spawning the vehicle only to find out i need to change it again..... very time consuming and painful on the fingers. however my 600 hours in From the Depths still feels like a better investment. and a lot of those hours are actual large, satisfying ocean battles, with blocks that get blown off when u damage them. Not afk sailing to the next random npc ship with 2 survivors that will pay me a measly 2k each to rescue them. hardly enough to pay off the fuel used to get there....

Also the decoration and mimics system is 10 parallel universe ahead of other games, made u able to make water dispensers and other cool stuff to decor ur ship and bases. The only interesting thing bout stormworks is the microcontroller system which kinda remind me of arduino lol. I really hope Stormworks dev use SketchUp design software because it have better GUI and helpful feature than Stormworks ship designer. Its weird when a game UI is harder and more stressful to use than a real design oriented software...

I copied all you did there step by step, but my missile launches into random directions even after just spawning it in without changing anything. While your missile is steady in the beginning until it detects the target, mine basically launches into a random direction making it impossible for me to adjust any numbers in the first place ... after almost 6 hours of adjusting, starting over again and failing to hit my target once i am very sad that i am not able to add this to my helicopter =(

Exact same thing. You replace the radar with a laser point sensor. Connect the composite to a microcontroller as the one he used in the video, with the function blocks to change the sensitivity. Radars and laser point detectors work in a similar way, so

I don't think you need that much damage to take out a vehicle in Stormworks, especially if it's a plane or helicopter. Take real life for example, a Sidewinder can do the same job as an R-40 missile, of course if we not talking about big or distant targets. The only difference here is the range and speed I guess.

Instead of an EMP, you can program the missiles to detonate once the target is close enough, eg 2-3 meters away. You can also always forgo warheads for a rocket pod that fires once in range.

it's most likely a cpu issue, the stormworks physics engine is pretty intense, you can go in settings and turn down physics quality
