I think Mr. Hiddleston is referring to the third and fourth stages of competence. They are described as 1. Unconscious incompetence. 2. Conscious incompetence. 3. Conscious Competence. 4. Unconcious competence. In acting, it is that fourth level when we no longer see the actor performing but see them as the character; as with so many of Mr. Hidddleston's performances, it is simply extraordinary.

Tom Hiddleston can speak Greek fluently. Hiddlestoners who have searched for Tom's videos on KZbin inside-out, upside-down probably knew that there's this one video showed Tom performed a drama called "Electra" (written by Sophocles) on stage during his days in Cambridge University, and the whole dialogue was spoken in Greek! Amazing!

greek here. I am a fan but he can't speak fluently. he only can read in a very simplified way that is taught abroad which makes it unintelligible to a greek. he can quote ancient greek texts but he can't pronounce it properly. Not his fault though, that's how they teach it unfortunately. he knows quite a bit though.

Idk... although there're many acting techniques he was talking about here... I think EVERYBODY should watch it if you want a bit of advice in your life... Here, it's not because how good-looking or whatever attractive features he has ... It's because we can get a feeling of how this successful man can explain his philosophy in an ordinary way. It's something so basic or deeply rooted in our attitude that contribute to whether we can really strive for our goals! Thank you Tom :) I can feel what you mean. Being prepared, stay in balance and go for what I want should be my attitude from this moment :)

I think that's what I love so much about him - depending on the style of the interview, he can be smart, intellectual and philosophical (like here); funny, light-hearted and cheeky; sexy, gorgeous and attractive; or modest, generous and charming. There are so many sides to him and somehow he really manages to capture attention in every way; I can't help but listen, and I think I'll come back to this because he deserves to really be listened to and it's such a shame that he isn't more widely known and respected, as his words have such deep meaning and - as you've said - he's so inspirational both in and out of the context of acting.

You know, if he ever stops acting as much I would kill to get him as a teacher(English or Acting). He'd be so incredibly eloquent and supportive. He just seems to know what someone's situation is and is able to process and sympathize with it. He understands the simpler problems of life(being a bit of a fish out of water, not being the best in a group). I've always loved being a mimic and doing short little acts or stories for classes or events, so maybe I'll get to take one of the RADA summer camps in London for my 16th birthday present. It's so relieving to have someone else in the acting industry say "I didn't ever really admit it to myself that I wanted to be an actor." As someone who has taken so long to admit to it myself I can vouch for the fact it can be very disquieting when in interviews with film actors they are always saying "I wanted to be an actor since I was 3 and I got my agent when I was 4." when I'm just sat there afraid to admit it. Having people push you to not be worried about the situation around you(as I have) is incredibly helpful, but I think just simply enacting made-up scenes in my room when I'm home alone and acting like a fool in private can be helpful as well. If you're comfortable with being a fool when it's just you, you can begin to extend that to other people. How do I know this?
