The label on the outside is how I remember to cinch down. ;) They also sell little plastic clips to keep the straps tidy. Love mine! Great video (as usual). ;)

For heavy items in a cage, such as water bottles, strap through the cage and ALSO around the frame tube to dramatically increase strength / reliability of the carry. You don’t want all that weight (~1-2kg) bouncing around supported only by 2 or 3 frame bosses. This is especially important for the long haul.

Hey Ryan, Just picked up a couple more Voiles at Blue Lug in Tokyo. Now I’ve got at least two for every bike. I keep them in a bag on the bike most all the time. Nice to have when you need ‘em. Best wishes and safe travels!

Thanks for introducing me to these straps. I use them for holding my water bottles on my wheelchair and medical bed. This gives me a little more freedom.

Tourniquets have to be very tight to be effective, but applying too little force wont stop arterial bleeding, and too much can damage tissue. My first aid training recommended not even attempting a tourniquet with hopes of saving the limb without a specially designed tourniquet, the only other option is just completely constricting the wound with extreme pressure and losing the limb. Although if you should ever need to use one it's do or die anyways, but I wouldn't rely on a strap for that.

I've had a Voile strap hold my ski binding to my ski to get me out of the woods, they've held skulls to handlebars I found in the desert, strapped down bread, sleeping bags, tents, even if I don't have them strapping something down, I always bring them with me!!!

Great straps. I can't believe I've not seen them here in Phoenix. Much improvement over bungees. Bungees can break and get into a wheel. That will cause a lot of four letter words! Super for showing us. Love you guys, and the puppy the most! :)

Heya all the way from Italy... i've seen people strapping even their bike on their backpacks to carry it hands-free up the mountains... but overcautious and paranoid as i well may be, i wouldnt kinda push them...test their lmit i mean. Dunno what you think about it... Also, i've tried to go through reviews and stuff but now we're talking about it, i havent spotted whether there's some sort of load safety limit, Sure am talking of the biggest and longest ones. Better go longer and double wrap them around the frame so the metal bit doesnt scratch even if it should ever slide a bit on the road...

Works best to run the straps round the fork rather than through the Blackburn rack. This puts far less strain on the cage attachment points to the forks.

It's funny, I also got a 2018 blue Kona sutra and the black burn bottle cages, now I'm kinda forced to get the voile straps :) The original black burn straps are just a bit too short for my 8L dry bags, so I've been considering getting some fancy straps. Hopefully I can find these in Europe :)

Voiles are hard to find in Europe and can be expensive (20€ for large ones) so I use shock cords to stabilize my bottles, stuff sacks and else on my front rack. Rok straps are also nice and have way more uses than Voile however their buckles always make me annoy. Buckles are always prone to get broken and fail people on the road.

There are some ski straps that are exactly like Voile straps. They just don't come in that many sizes. I have some G3 Tension Straps. They come in 400, 500, and 650mm. It's really exactly the same. OneUp Components also make an "EDC Strap" which is also pretty much the same but a bit short (355mm).

The small strap are always just a tiny bit shorter than the length you need, no matter what you are trying to strap down. It’s an unusual law of physics. Go large. If they tell you size isn’t important, they’re lying.

6:10 Don't tourniquet a snake bite - this can be dangerous. Instead, call an ambulance immediately and bandage the leg with pressure to prevent the venom from moving, try to keep your pulse down and don't move.

I cut the part where I corrected myself and said "wait, aren't you NOT supposed to tourniquet snake bites?" guess I was right! So, just like other wounds...pressure is the first step. Thank you for the advice that we will hopefully never need!
