I tried to get a raddy. But they didnt know when they be back in stock. So i got the Tecsun PL-660. Not only shortwave but cb cnannels as well and SSB. Im a electronics nerd, anything that has lighted displays, button menu's ,knobs, make weird interstellar sounds as i turn knobs makes me smile lol

He reviewed another small shortwave radio like this that had SSB. I purchased one for someone who wanted to get into it. I tried it out before I handed it off to them. I was able to pick up guys on sideband loud and clear. I wouldn't buy one with out either.

I know the little one you reviewed was around $99 and right after I purchased it they were out of stock for a while. I have an old radio shack dx-398 that has great ssb and sw reception. Also recently bought 3 CB radios at a flea market with no mounting brackets , none of the 11 radios he had included mounting brackets and I don't understand why. This was a great video with a great looking little radio!

I have been toying with the idea of getting one of these also as I already have the HRD-701 the real small Hanrongda unit and its got great sound. I would imagine this would be even better with bigger speaker and more power output as well. The ones I see available here in Australia are the other brand but same look exactly with difference of having green dial light.

Now that you’ve had this for awhile. How has it held up? Is it worth the cost?

It's a fairly basic model. That said , it does still work fine. I find the controls to be frustrating at times, but then again, I've got poor eyesight.

I have an old GE monitor 10 with hf, vhf, uhf, weather, cb, am, air. They go for about75$ online. It's nice to be able to listen to all the bands even if you cant transmit on them.

@@FarpointFarms Yeah OK, i have a DAB+ Radio also with Analog FM and a lot of options to program (Clock and Alarm). It is a tiny chip on a tiny board on the inside and only has another chip for having sound out of the tiny speaker. That is why I am interested.

My top mast of antenna is loose like that too. We need a mod fire an antenna that swivels at the base. Radioddity says not replaceable antenna. So toss the radio when it breaks. Huh?

I usually leave the antenna down and just clip a long wire antenna to it.

I'm VERY surprised none of these manufacturers have figured out a way to add an optional external BFO unit either via the headphone jack or if it's being used to power the AC adapter, the USB port to allow SSB reception......

Nice Radio and thanks for the review; - but you need to test a radio properly. 1. Never test a radio near a Mains socket, or any electrical chargers or equipment etc. 2. When testing AM, put radio near a window and rotate the AM Antenna in the radio to receive strongest signal. 3. Hang the SW Long wire Antenna out of the window to avoid Mains hum and electrical interference. 3. Test each Band when reception is at its highest, at appropriate time of day, i.e., AM in the evenings. Good luck
