Good vid and input. What's your verdict? I'm really curious because I am looking at the 6950 XT reference right now. I have a 3080 ti FE that I'm thinking of returning in favor of the 6950 XT, but I'm torn. I'm also torn about buying reference when the non reference cards have better cooling and numbers. What is the benefit for reference?

yep that 6950xt reference looks damn good, gaming performance better than any current Nvidia offering, but less features. I'll pick one up and see if I regret it when next gen comes around later this year
@GameTechReviews2 жыл бұрын
I have both. I"ll do a comparison between the two in the near future. But I definetly think the 6950 XT is better than the 3080 ti FE. The FE card is much louder than I expected it to be while the 6950 XT remains quiet. I think in general the 6950 XT will stay relevant longer due to 16gb vs 12gb.

How hot does it run? Do you have any readings of wattage under load? I'm considering getting a reference one since the Sapphire prices are already so bloated ...
@GameTechReviews2 жыл бұрын
It's pretty much the same as the 6900 XT in terms of temperature. Very quiet, 1392 RPM at load 77C. Power consumption will depend on usage. For example, if playing with frame rate uncapped the wattage can be 300w but if playing games where the built-in limit is 60fps (i.e. several console ports, JRPGs, etc.) then the wattage is around 170w.

Does your 6950xt have missing screws in the front? If so I’d assume that’s intentional and for a bracket to hold it up or something but I’m not sure.

Yes, those holes on the front are for mounting to an OEM support bracket.

Get whichever one you like the looks of better. Both are extremely quiet. I would recommend a 1000w power supply that has the ability to handle the transient loads. Check my latest video talking about power supplies "How to fix a PC shutting off while gaming".

@@eduardosalas8262 How does it fair at 4k, 60hz? The new pricing sounds good. I'm looking to upgrade from my 5600 XT, The Dead Space remake is really stretching it and it's showing its age even with FSR. I play on my Samsung TV which is 4k 120hz but on 4k I'm limited to 60hz due to HDMI 2.0 spec, it can do 1440p, 120hz though. I have an R7 3700X CPU.
@fhf17 Жыл бұрын
@@withmygoodeyeclosed I don’t own that card anymore due to overheating issues which is why I’m not recommending it anymore. You’d need atleast a Ryzen 5600x or 5800x3D to get the most out of the card. Make sure to get fast ram like 3200mhz and you should be fine. I don’t have dead space but I do have Forza Horizon 4 not 5 and I’m getting over 160fps at 4K max settings with motion blur to low and anti aliasing to low.
@withmygoodeyeclosed Жыл бұрын
@@fhf17 Thanks, ordered and received mine and I have to say I'm satisfied. What were your temps? I went with the reference specifically due to its conservative length and because I really like the design on this one. Temps are (roughly) around 60-70c, junction temp around 80-90c playing at 4k. I had to turn up the fans quite a bit. My RAM is 32GB@3200mhz. I'm planning on riding the AM4 train until I really have to switch platforms. I will probably upgrade my 3700X to the 5800X3D at some point in the near future (waiting for price to drop a bit more). It's handling Dead Space remake very well, 4k 60fps, RTAO enabled (using FSR quality mode) looks amazing. It still micro-stutters when loading new areas though but that's a problem with the engine shader compilation from what I've gathered in, although a faster CPU like the 5800X3D should help quite a bit I think with those.
