@stephencarter14423 жыл бұрын
Why is the turbo positioned that way. I remember seeing a huge preesure loss like that. When my old man and I messed with turbos in the 80's with a 4wd sand drag jeep. We tried every angle but inlet facing forward gave us are best results in a flat fender willys with zero clearance every where. Just asking? Kevin would know.
@hoost30563 жыл бұрын
With the today's turbo designs you don't have to worry so much about inlet position, plus the engines that are pushing on these things are a far cry from what was around in the 80s.
@stephencarter14423 жыл бұрын
Yeah we were on the infancy of turbo using Garrett turbos from hatch and Kirk. Could never make it live but was a record holder we used nitrous to spool and meth injection to keep it cool. Circa 1983 4.80 in 100 yards with 1963 Pontiac 4cly.
@stephencarter14423 жыл бұрын
@@hoost3056 thanks for the logical explanation
@TurboJohnRacing3 жыл бұрын
With all his existing dry sump stuff, we didn't have room for the exhaust with it forward facing. Would have had to redo everything. Since we have such a huge turbo, and are not running it to the max flow. The ram air probably is not much help. I picked up good power back in the day, when I had a 76mm compressor wheel from side ways to forward facing
